I'm level 22 Aspec and level 20 Bspec. I haven't noticed anything new in regards to damage. A or B spec... EDIT - that's before the newest patch which added mechanical damage. I haven't raced an A spec race since.
Level 20 bspec allows you to pit. I noticed my hot personality driver will make moves to get to first. He'll cut in and out etc. He also cools down fast. Where as my cool headed driver will wait for the right opportunities to pass. Which sometimes takes a while.
For Bspec you pretty much just make sure has a fast car and pace him down at the beginning because that's where they get the most stressed and over do it and spin out. Keep him slightly warm. But if the race is easy. You can press start race and leave him alone.

So I finally got my race car. I beat Like the Wind with a tuned veyron for the daytona road course race, and the mazda furai for the indy race. I got the Minolta Toyota 88cv car and MAN this thing is fast. It was super hard to keep controlled with the racing hard tires that it came with, so I had to put soft tires on.
You gotta win the Furai from Bspec. And you get the Minolta from beating the Level 21 races - Like the Wind. Max the downforce on the Furai for eassssy handling. the Furai is a low level Bspec race.
I think you're trying to beat the level 19 championship right? Grind it out. The level 20 races are easy. And then grind the level 20 races till you're level 21.

i agree its lot like an RPG and i DO NOT like that new component in GT5.
what it basically means is, the sh*tload of time that you must put in to get far in this game has been pre-programmed.... its a stupid feeling, unless youre a kid (IMO). but look at COD and those other games, they have it too.
so ive tried about 12 times for the 787 and failed.... i got miata, Skylines, NSX, Celica...

Remember that you can use the same fake account to gift multiple cars of that year, through 2 ways:
1. After gifting, exit the game, delete the save on that user, then repeat.
2. After gifting, when the screen comes up saying, "Operation done", do not press ok. Instead exit the game, then start it up. That same save should then be able to gift a car again without the 24 Hour period, as long as you keep exiting the game when the "Operation" thing pops up.
I believe it does, listed as the "Stealth" models.
