Since the new 2009 NBA games are out now, I am having a hard time to decide which one to get (NBA Live 2009, NBA 2K9, NBA 09:The Streets). The only NBA games I have played are NBA Live 08 on PS2 and NBA 06 for PSP. I have never played the 2K's before, but 2K9 is getting great reviews. So lets hear your thoughts on these games. BTW, I only have PS3, if that matters.

 

It's all about 2K now. I was a longtime Live gamer but ever since 2k series came out for the Dreamcast it was over for the Live series. The last best Live I played was 2004 for the PS2 and it went downhill after that. I played the demo for Live 2009 for PS3 and it seems to improve this year but I bought 2K once again. However this year it seem to have many glitches and problems with the online server. 2K is a real simulation b-ball game and that's why I love it. I hope they release a patch to fix the problems soon.

NBA '0X is straight garbage!

My PSN is WDPFTW if you get 2K9 for PS3 and want to get a game going. They have a "team-up" feature that is pretty tight!

 

i'm deciding right now too. i use to love the older NBA live's on original xbox, but i had NBA live '08 on ps3 and i thought it was garbage. i'll probably rent 2k9 and live '09 and see what i like better

 

Slightly off-topic, but I kinda miss the NBA street series. Ryan, is the third game you mentioned arcade-style? For some reason, I'd rather play those games than any NBA simulation ..

 

I think NBA 09: The Streets is a simulation game. I could be wrong since I have only seen the commercials and trailers.

 

I had NBA Live 06 and hated that their dynasty mode consisted of 1 season. I have NBA 2K8 now and their association mode is essentially unlimited. For me live < 2K8. But this is for xbox. I would read the professional reviews and the user reviews on each game to see which ones are better and which game is better suited to your style. Some say one has better graphics but the other has better gameplay. There is also professional game comparasions of these games too that you can find online.

 

NBA 2k9 might be the first bball game worth buying in a while. I don't think I bought one since one of the NBA 2K games on dreamcast, which btw, was awesome, along with the football and baseball versions.

NBA live 09 isn't bad, but 2K is better. and NBA 09 is a different kind of game, more arcade like.

 

I owned the 2k's from 03-07 and they were to me better than Live. I prefer a simulation style so it's in your preferences. There are people that love Live better because of its arcade feel. However I read in EGM that Live got better but 2k still had a higher score.
