Well, i keep getting disc read errors and it wont load any cd or game or anything. Its shot to all hell. My warranty form bestbuy just expired like 14 days ago too...im soo pissed. Is it worth it to buy a new PS2? Should i go used? Is there a PS3 comming out soon that i could wait and save up for?

 

my broke in less then a year that i got it. same problem but mine was worst. mine scratch up my BRAND NEW gta vice city when it first came out and i only played it for 1 day. maybe the new mini ps2 would be different cuz the tray dont come out

 

I'd go ahead and purchase the new PStwo, it's able to use an expanded capacity memory card. The PS3 isn't coming out until at least 2006.

 

Most likely you just need to clean the laser, that has happened about 3 times so far. Just get rid of the dust and it should work fine...

 

That's all I did was clean mine when it did that.

My old ps2 broke completely, and wouldnt play any discs at all. I ended up taking it to eb and trading it in. I know someone who works there and he told me they wouldnt check it and they didnt. I got 90 bucks for it. I ended up buying another ps2 later on and eventually trading that one in for the mini ps2. The second time i traded a ps2 in they gave me 100 but they chech\ked to make sure a dvd game worked, a blue back disc workewd, and that a movie played, so not sure if you can get away with what i didi.

 

I just bought a new one since my original broke and I got the 2 year warrenty from best buy and the guy told me that when PS3 comes out I should bring the PS2 in and say its not working but since the system is old tell them you dont want a replacement but that you want the value of it taken off a new PS3, since Im sure its going to be $$$$$ when it comes out

 

well i cleaned the lazer with rubbing alcohol like i read on the internet and it still isnt working...still gettin a disc read error...got any other advice on what i could do to see if i could fix it?

 

My old ps2 is broken too. I don't get a disk read error but when I put the game in its like the the directional pad is stuck or something. I just bought the new ps2 to replace it, been pretty good so far and the size is a lot better .

 

my friends ps2 was broken...bought one from walmart...returned the broken one in the new ones box...got full refund and new ps2...IM NOT CODONING IT just an option

 

dont they check the serial code to comapre it to the system and the box?

you can do that anywhere. jsut change the serial numbers and pick your cashier!! never pick an old lady, pick cute girls or yougn looking guys. that way they dont even check and jus start up a convo wit them
