Is It Possible To Play Old Games On New Pc??

for example, i wanna play sim city 2000 or 3000 or maybe starcraft

is it possible to play these on a new computer? i saw sim city in stores the other day are they updating the classics so they can work? i remember i tried installing my old starcraft cd but it didnt work, but they do sell a starcraft in the stores that does......can anyone explain?

Usually it will say on the back or side of the box if its compatible with XP (Im assuming XP)... Even if its a really old game, the boxes are usually updated with new OS information...

but it only says windows 95 and 96 on the back

You can try (and I stress, try) to run it in compatibility mode (click on properties of the icon of the came and go to compatibility mode, and choose 95/98). You will probably need to do a google search to see how to get it installed...

edit: and I doubt it says 96 on it....

Then Id assume you take a chance and see if it works... If its a ~$10.00 game, why not just try it, if it works, great, if it doesnt, off to the closet it goes...

EDIT: Or try Whiskers' smarter way.....

I have Simcity 2000 and 3000, they work for me, though some people may encounter sound errors on certain sound cards/motherboards.

SIm City 3000 didnt work on my XPS but Starcraft did so iunno....
