Portal FREE on Steam until May 24
For the launch of Steam on Mac, they're making Portal free for a short time, so go download it now http://store.steampowered.com/freeportal/

Is it free to use forever as long as you acquire it by May 24th or will Steam only allow you to play it at no-charge until May 24th? The Steam page is more than a little ambiguous about that. Not like it's a problem to finish the game in 12 days so you're pretty much guaranteed at least one complete playthrough for free.

I think it's a free copy, otherwise they usually just do a "free weekend" or whatever. I think I got CS source and TF classic the same way a couple of years ago.

I thought STEAM was a game 
So this entire time I never read any of the rumors about it...so now I have no real clue what steam is, other than some type of gaming service for mac.

I've heard nothing but awesome things about it, except that it's a short game. I'll see, it's worth one mouse click to download.
Apparently there's a modded server on Team Fortress 2 that allows use of the portal gun. I'll have to find it and see how that plays

its kind of like xbox live. where you can download games and have a friends list and play games with them.
i guess its also the first time that half life and its related games will be playable on a mac?
