PC: Hearts of Iron III
For those of you who enjoy playing Axis and Allies, I highly recommend the Hearts of Iron series. THE most complex, fun and realistic WW2 grand strategy games out there. Choose ANY nation that existed in 1936 and have fun HOI 3 is coming sometime late next summer or early fall..
Until then, grab a copy of Hearts of Iron 2
From choosing your cabinet, researching technology, deciding elections and important event outcomes to grand military strategy. It requires a lot of planning but this is every WW2 geeks wetdream...
This is an example of just how detailed it CAN get. This is optional. You can choose just what your army divisions are made of. You can pick which brigades go into a division. Do you want three, four or even five brigades? For a realistic experience, you could make an artillery division just as the Soviet Union did.
Thats an early screenshot of the process.
I'll be getting to test it
Feel free to ask questions. There is quite a bit to the game, the vast majority of it is of course on a 3D map showing your units. But there are plenty of screens with statistics and decisions to make.

Did anyone pick it up yet?
I just downloaded the demo. Never played the series before but it's right up my alley. Hopefully, I'll get a chance to play the demo this afternoon.

If you guys end up playing this..
Install Patch 1.1 and 1.2 (hotfix) or else the game is just miserably slow and a little buggy. It now works as intended.

It needs mods or a better update. In my game Germany never declared war on Poland and neither did the soviets on September 1st and 17th. I'm hoping TRP for HOI3 gets released soon.

Maybe Germany is biding its time, building up its forces even more and attacking Poland or someone else next year
And +1 for TRP, it really makes HOI2 even better.

Yea HOI2 alone was ok but with mods made the game addicting. I already am using some map and minister pic mods but no gameplay mods.

I assume you got the quickfix? It makes the game run much faster, basically reduces the number of times a country will try to trade with you.

I need more trades I dled the quick fix but being Hungary sucks. Since I'm a noob to it I play as a minor. I also still don't like the historical aspect of the game or should I say inhistorical. Germany had a successful operation sea lion and took over great britain. Six months later the US comes to France and starts attacking the Axis, and its not even 1941. But its still fun.
