ahhhh.... I'm happy. I'm happy to report that music sounds great on the PSP. Checked out a couple of MP3's on it - I've had dismal experience with new Sony digital media products in the past, and didn't have too high hopes for the PSP in terms of music reproduction. It sounds great. There are 5 EQ settings, I didn't find it to sound too good with EQ off. I am using the "UNIQUE" EQ setting for trance, and it sounds great. With the volume maxed out, I feel like it should go a bit higher - but its quite damn loud and I probably shouldn't be listening to it that loud anyway.

And now it's time to find the biggest Duo card I can find.... j/k, will probably cost like over $200 if they even make a 2 or 4bg. Will probably just get a 1gb for now.

wow this sounds awesome..... good job Sony.

Well, those bastards just got their new shipment in...
Same deal now as everywhere, has a demo disc...no spiderman 2 movie.

So, I bought it, got it home. Went to the mall and got Untold Legends, since they said it was very Diablo like.

Powered it up...5 dead pixels. Ok lets keep playing with it give a chance. Put in the demo disc. Yes its cool. Yes movies looks great. Games look subpar, Untold legends looks kinda crappy. sound sucks and I hate using headphones with portable games unless on a plane. And there was one dead pixel in a very annoying place on the screen.

Basically, the device is very cool. But I will never put the money into it on top of the initial and expensive 250 plus tax. I'll never spring for the 1gb stick. I'll never really buy movies for it. Never put music on it.

And I was reminded of why I dont really own a PS2...Not much for the games on it. Specially whats available right now. So it lost its appeal

So, I still think its cool. And if I had disposable income to piss away I might have kept it. I returned it and got Doom 3 instead.

Thankfully, I didnt open the Untold Brotherhood game. I'll return that tomorrow.

the things not designed to compete with the x-box or ps2, its designed to compete with teh nintendo ds and gameboy advanced, which it kicks their ass

is it just me or is the design of the UMD like VERY similar to a MiniDisc? hell from the looks of the PSP it looks like you could put a mini disc in it.. anyways.. so far my PSP has been collecting dust.. no real games out there right now that interest me.. and after getting metal gear ac!d and finding out its not like MGS1 2 and 3 im a little disappointed

It's the games that matter. That is why the Gameboy's over the years have been unstoppable. The PSP is definitely more technically advanced, but technology alone won't make a handheld a winner. Look at the Lynx, TurboExpress, Gamegear, Neo-Geo Pocket, etc....

All were much more advanced than the black and white original gameboy, but all failed.

I think the PSP has potential, but Sony needs to make sure they have good games being developed.

my friend got one the day it came out and had the really big urge to bring it to class but he didn't want to be:
1) THAT GUY who plays video games before and after class
2) THAT GUY who has the newest hottest (not cheap) gadget

i think its really really cool, but wouldnt' buy one cause i get bored of almost all games anyway

II was going to say the same thing as it's pretty that the PSP and Xbox/PS2 don't compete against eachother, but I figured you did a good enough job

I agree, I like the Kawasaki ZX6-R better... would take it over a PSP anyday. Goes fast, gets chicks, etc.
