The Orange Box

Even though I am busy with Halo 3, I think I will have to pick this up.

The reviews so far are great: 98/100

Games included in The Orange Box compilation:

Half-Life 2 - The player again picks up the crowbar of research scientist Gordon Freeman, who finds himself on an alien-infested Earth being picked to the bone, its resources depleted, its populace dwindling. Freeman is thrust into the unenviable role of rescuing the world from the wrong he unleashed back at Black Mesa. And a lot of people - people he cares about - are counting on him.

Half-Life 2: Episode One - The player reprises his role of Dr. Freeman, who must immediately face the repercussions of his actions in City 17 and the Citadel. Freeman reconnects with Alyx Vance and her robot, Dog, as they continue their support of the resistance's battle against the Combine forces.

Half-Life 2: Episode Two -- the second installment in Valve's episodic trilogy advances the award-winning story, leading the player to new locations outside of City 17.

Portal - a pioneering type of single player action game that rewrites the rules for how players approach and manipulate their environment – much like how Half-Life 2's Gravity Gun reinvented the way gamers interact with objects in the game.

Team Fortress 2 - an all-new version of the legendary title that spawned team based multiplayer action games. The game's daring new art style features the most advanced graphics of any Source-based game released to date.

I'll still be picking it up, but I have to admit I was really hoping Portal would be multi-player in some way, shape, or form.

On PC...this week. On PS3...December.

So, if it'll run on my TravelMate, I'm so buying it this week.

PORTAL rocks. really cool game. start to finish.

i was expecting a LOT more from HL2 Ep2. the graffix are great the shadows, unbelievable but its the same old thing over again. no new weapons...

TF2. really cool, exact same thing as the first. different graffix.

I tried to get into this game. I really did when it was out on Xbox. I got to the part where you get this gravity gun, but the story was really too slow for me.

Great deal for those of you who are fans of the series though, enjoy

The PS3 version is not out, so there aren't any side-by-side comparisons.

Bought it and I am glad I did ($39.99 at Circuit City).

Episode 2's story is so engrossing that hours flew and I didn't even notice.

Portal is fun, though frustrating at times (I'm a dodo)

And while we're on the "how does it run?" topic, I'm basically curious if the PC version is any more or less demanding on a system than HL2 Episode 1.

Hmm, i will do some subjective testing tomorrow, I actually haven't gone through ep1 yet. (i'm a horrible person)

http://anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=3122 perhaps this will help a small amount.

I havn't seen anything comparing all the games in the box though.

Check their Sunday add and online - it's still listed as $39.99 (PC Version)

so i picked up the orange box for pc today. Bad idea. TF2 is alot of fun but I have to run everything on low settings and I still get like 25fps. Should have gotten the xbox version. At least it was only $40 bucks at circuit city.

Portal is fucking awesome... One of the funniest games I've ever played. It's short, but the last level classic

I'd recommend the PC or 360 version. Both of those are developed by Valve (the game's developer) and only published by EA.

Valve hated developing on the PS3 so they outsourced development of the PS3 version to EA.. And knowing EA, they very often aren't known for quality.

Valve's thoughts on the PS3: http://ps3.ign.com/articles/755/755493p1.html
