Older games are such an insane bang/buck
Is anyone else out there impuse buying old games due to their price?
I just bought Freedom force pack (original game+expansion), Xcom pack (original+3 sequels), and psychonauts on steam because they were on sale for $2 each. $2!! that's just nuts.
Don't know when I'll have time to play them, but.....

usually, even good games hold decent value...
i love shopping the used game shelves for steals... but i try to keep it above 10 bucks... anything under was either a flop or has bad replay ability.
oh and i wont buy used games unless it comes with the original case. (i keep every game i buy)

Things that are better hold their value longer, but nothing retains value forever.
I'd say any 'top 20 games of the years' for any years say prior to 2000 could not sell for more than $10 but are still fantastic games.
That's an interesting point about boxes - digital distribution certainly allows for cheaper games. One of the biggest things I think about the digital age is the savings of manufacturing and shipping costs!

Steam has a pretty good sales that I partake in because I've never been the one to trade games in. Last week psyconaughts was 2 bucks. Also indie games such as braid are usually 5-15 dollars, but manage to be very good fun.

I can't bring myself to play old games. They just look so bad, it's hard to go back. I'm spoilt
I do like to play UN Squadron on the SNES emulator though. Such an impossibly hard game, it's fun messing around with it once in a while, especially since it was the first game I ever played.

I like to snap up cheap games for the previous gen consoles. Anything older than that I run on emulator.
