According to reports streaming in from some loose-penned European press, Microsoft will release three different versions of the Xbox Next. The standard Xbox Next will be a basic gaming console. The Xbox Next HD will include a hard drive. Then, about a year later, the Xbox Next PC will be released as a fully-functioning Windows Media Center PC, all in a package smaller than the current Xbox. It is slated to come with a wireless mouse and keyboard and a CD Burner. This should cause some healthy consumer confusion next year while making things difficult on developers. Keep in mind chances are good the thing won’t even be called Xbox “Next.” Fanboys, start your engines!
Holy confusion batman!

What is with companies these days diluting their products into so many subsets. I guess the day of the standalone killer-app is over

I don't think thats the actual design. I recall a online design copmpetition awhile ago... and I think that was the winner of "What will the next xbox look like"

It's supposed to be much smaller than the current Xbox though which is much needed. I think I'd get the version with the hard drive but skip the PC replacement

I was gonna include Atari, Commodore... etc... but I decided not to take it back that far.

Leave it to you though

yeah its big. I wouldn't mind big if it was standard component sized... and flat on all sides.

but its rounded... so you cant even set shit on top of it.

it needs to be HT component sized.

i can see the hd version and standard version screwing things up because th hd is what helps games load faster. I dont see the media version causing a stir with developers unless core graphics or main processors are changed.

not to mention holding your saves without having stupid memory cards, or sticking all your games onto the hd if you have a modchip

the PC version seems very confusing, I thought MS wanted to keep xbox software and PC software far apart if theres a PC version it will only be a matter of time until someone hacks the games to work on any PC
