Motherboard problem
Motherboard problem
I just bought a new motherboard (Intel D975XBX) with Core 2 Duo E6400. I have hooked up all the power cables and fans etc, however, when I press the power button nothing happens. I have tried 2 power supplies and have disconnected and reconnected everything many times to no avail. I thought the mobo and/or processor were bad, so I went back to Fry's and exchanged both of them, and it still does not work...
TIA

First check to see if the power button is properly connected to the motherboard.
Some motherboards have a small light on them somewhere which is always lit when the motherboard is getting power. Check that.
Check the back of your power supply, there is a switch to manually stop any power coming in. It should be black with "l" and "O" written on it.
You said nothing happens, but I am going to ask this anyway, do you hear any beeps when you hit the power button?

The power was connected and the light on the motherboard was on. I know now that it is a short of some sort caused by the new chassis I bought. If I assemble it outside of the chassis everything works fine. I cheaped out on the chassis and am now seeing the results...time to return this POS and get a much better one.
