thats kind of jacked up for people with the 1st gen Xbox 360s, pretty much means the 500-700 they spent on it was sorta useless, cause the newer ones for the same price are cooler running and better performance..

THQ’s MotoGP franchise has long been considered one of the superior video game racers on the market ever since it debuted on the Xbox in 2002. Never a company to rest on its laurels, THQ continues its aggressive approach in next-gen game development. Today, THQ has announced a partnership with Swedish development studio SimBin Development Team AB to bring their award-winning GTR franchise to the Xbox 360.
This multi-title deal kicks off with the release of GTR on the Xbox 360 in Q1 2007, specifically focusing on the FIA (Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile) GT Championship - a European-based racing series that includes world class automakers such as Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati, Corvette, Porsche and Aston Martin.
GT cars are the crčme de la crčme of road racing vehicles, with mere skins of their production-based brethren. We’re talking turbocharged or big displacement tube-frame beasts; carbon-on-carbon brakes, sequential trannies, and pretty much every other type of techno-gadgetry you can think of.
GT cars aren’t for the faint of heart or lack of skill. It takes precision and full attention to pilot one of these asphalt terrors. But perhaps it’s even tougher for a developer to properly pull off a racing game that is so genre-specific; every detail must be perfect, not only for the rabid fans of Grand Touring racing, but also to satisfy the stringent specifications of the FIA. Luckily, SimBin - heralded for its work on GT Legends and GTR for the PC - already has a vast amount of experience in making GT racers look and feel right. There is no doubt in our mind that SimBin and THQ will do GTR on the Xbox 360 right, which makes us even more excited for its worldwide launch.
Today, TeamXbox.com is proud to give you the first glimpse at GTR, including never-before-seen video footage and in-game screenshots.

Should be interesting, but I figure something else you'll haveto buy to play HD DVD's (unless they decide to include the HDMI cable in the HD DVD kit).

Sarlacc, I am still holding out hope that this add on will be worth it. Hell, if they price it well it could be a pretty good deal than buying a standalone player.
BTW, here is the thread on this https://acurazine.com/forums/console-computer-gaming-13/hd-dvd-coming-360-a-328430/

Like I said. The article is pure cocksucking on MS's part. On paper Blu-Ray is the superior format.
Either way, like I said before, I am staying away from both formats for the time being. As far as I'm concerned right now they are both dead.
And yeah, I would expect a firmware upgrade once the player hits shelves.

Both HD-DVD and Blu-ray, using H.264, should come in at around 33-36Mb/s.
The high-speed USB2 ports on the XBOX are capable of as much as 480Mb/s. At it's slowest, it still comes in over 100Mb/s.
There's plenty of head room for the transmission of data encoded at 1080p.
As for the duck speak in the press release, what do you expect? It's a PRESS RELEASE.
Everyone in PR & Marketing is full of shit. In both camps... Sony or MS.
Take it easy.

I am fucking pissed with the 360 already. The game delays are killing me. I was all happy that test drive was coming out in time for my B day. which is a few weeks away. Then a few days ago they change the damn release date to october. By that time i will be saving for the Wii and PS3.

Nothing, but you don't need a controller turned on to play or control DVD's. I use the 360 as my dvd player and its annoying to always have to turn on a controller and open the control screen just to pause a DVD.
That controller is a knock-off though, my bad...I thought it was the Microsoft branded remote. Its probably junk.

...okay, so I was one of the lucky ones that got picked in a lottery on the release day @ Costco... and last week, it died on me while playing "Battlefield 2"... well, it started freezing on me... then it just frozed... so I packed everything up (I kept the box), walked into the same Costco... and when I approached the customer service counter... I barely utter "...it frozed on me..." they knew right away the problem... and immediately started the returning process... got cashed out -no problems, I didn't even have a receipt but they looked me up (cause they keep records of everything you buy)... anyway I bought another bundle... which is way I buy (just about) everything from Costco...

Is it just me or there aren't that many 360 games to get excited about yet?
I want to get Call of Duty 2, but $60 is steep for just 1 game. How long do you think until Microsoft starts issuing platinum hits when the games become $20?

So many damn games out I want to play... just got The Outfit, MotoGP, Over G Fighters, and Dead or Alive.
The Outfit is a blast. Its a huge change of pace from the fighting sims (GRAW, COD, BF2). This is like an arcade game. Very fun.

Over G Fighters is absolutely the worst game for the 360. No kidding, the graphics look like something from Sega Genesis. The gameplay is horrible also...you fly around and orange boxes highlight the bad guys, you just hit a button and it launches missiles that blow up the boxes.
MotoGP is pretty bad too. The graphics are terrible.
