Mac Computer Gaming

I kinda have an itch to get back into computer gaming. It's been almost 8 years since I've played and I'm not familiar with what's out there. Multiplayer first person shooters like Rainbow Six were my favorites. Are there online communities out there for Mac's or should I install Boot Camp and purchase the Windows version? I really know nothing about this stuff, so any help would be appreciated.

I have a Power Mac G5 with dual 2GHz processors and 1GB of RAM and also a MacBook Pro with the 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo processor and 2GB of RAM. I'm thinking the MacBook would make for a better gaming computer.

Macbook Pro with Bootcamp

Gaming on OSX is like trying to do your term paper on a PS3. Yes it can be done but good luck

What do you mean by that? I thought a keyboard and mouse game would play the same regardless of what operating system you're on? Like I said, it's been a while.

One of the big companies that has converted many of the popular games into Mac compatible ones it Aspyr.

www.aspyr.com

They have done many popular games, but I'd read reviews on any games before you decide to purchase any. Some have been notorious for crashing on certain Mac OS's, or not running normally, etc. One example I know of off the top of my head is SimCity 4. I wanted to get it for Mac, but supposedly it was built before the most recent Mac OS was out, and apparently, on the ones like OS X, it supposedly freezes and crashes alot.

They are definitely out there, but be wary.

I would personally never run bootcamp on my MBP, but that's just me.
I've just heard my fair share of stories in which people have run Bootcamp and they opened themselves up to all sorts of bugs, etc.

Stability and quality of the games is usually subpar.

There are exceptions, I'd do some research and reviews of the games you're interested in.

FWIW, I have OSX and Windows 7 as a dual boot on this machine.
