logitech driving force pro wheel is broke--help!!
ok so here' my problem, i have had it for more then a year. about a month ago the break sensor registered that i was breaking but just a little bit in GT4. so if i pushed the pedel from the side it would go away since there is some left to right play in it. i took it apart and just looked at everything and moved it around and i put it back together and it worked fine, it still had the play in it was fine.
last night when i went to go play i had the same problem so i did the same thing figuring it would be fixed. well after i put it together the break does not work at all. it won't register that i'm breaking.
any one have this problem or have an idea how i can fix it?

ok i'm not that technically inclined but when u open it up there is a plug with i think 3 or 4 cable going to it into the side of the pedal, there is a different one for each side, i'm not sure if this answers your question but if anyone else has info about this please put it in. thanks. i don't feel like buys another $150 wheel.
Split axis means the brake and throttle operate independantly of each other. Single axis means that they are two sides of the same axis. In a single axis setup if you have the throttle floored and push the brake it just reduces the amount of throttle and doesn't actually register any braking. Which way is the DFP?
What I would suggest doing is testing like I mentioned above. Floor the throttle then step on the brake and see if the thottle level stays the same or goes down. Then do the opposite, floor the brake and apply the throttle.
I took apart my red Logitech Mom Force once (split axis) and thought the brake was screwed. It turned out I had just put the leads to the brake pot on backwards when I reassembled it.

when i floor the throttle and then presson the break the throttle would hold wide open at the same time with the break. now if i floor the break i can also floor the throttle. so this means that it does not reduce the gas at all. so i believe it is split axis. but at this point the break does not work at all it won't even register. i know i hit the plug where it it connects to the break but it didn't come off or anything.
honestly, if I were in your shoes, I would throw it out and get a new one. when you break a steering wheel, there is often nothing you can do, unless you have the extended warranty on it - then you can return it and get a new one - I've actually done that before.
what I mean is - there are usually no user-serviceable parts inside a steering wheel - if something breaks, its broke.
but let me ask you this - when you click on Game Controllers and go into that window, when you press the brake, does it show the red bar going up and down? If not, try calibrating it from within that screen - if that still doesn't work, try reinstalling the drivers. If still no sign of movement when hitting the brake, I would have to say you're SOL.

i'm gonna try to clean up the inside maybe it's not making a connnection with all the grease and all the dust thats in there, if not then i'll do that
Just remember, there's no rule that says you can't have the thing plugged in and be testing it while you have it taken apart. That way you can try turning the brake pot and jiggling the wiring with your fingers and see if it makes any difference while you're looking at the controller screen.
