Help with PS3

hey guys,
I have a PS3 now and I am having some issues with it. When I turn it on, it will send a video signal for a split second, then stop, then sent it again and it will stay on. Then when I go through the menu and select play game, I loose video, it comes up for a split second and then it displays the game. The same occurs when I shut exit the game via the PS button on the remote. I googled it and came up with nothing but the loss of money ps3 had. Any insight into this?

Also its a brand new ps3 80GB edition, its been updated to the latest firmware/updates, hooked up via HDMI at 1080P resolution.

are you hook up to a receiver? If so this is normal. I have my ps3 hook up to my Onkyo and it would do this when turning on, initially trying to play blu-ray, and going back to the ps3 menu.

nope directly to the TV. I had the same issue when through the reciever and thought it was that, and it's not. Also forgot to add it also does it when using the supplied a/v cord with the 3 rca plugs.

Mine does it too. It's normal operation as far as I know. I've never had a problem. Mine is hooked up through HDMI directly to the TV.

The PS3 may be changing resolutions 1080p when it's flashing the screen; I think mine does the same i'll have to check. Is your tv going to the "no input" screen while this happens?

Do you have any issues with audio? I have my PS3 hooked up to my HK receiver and it "blips/thuds" when i'm going to things.. super annoying but it goes away after I start a video or game; when I first open a video/game, it's a very brief bass note.. super annoying... and I think it does it the entire time im on the xmb

My PS3 does the same, and it's hooked up via HDMI. But for the most part, I think it's nornal operation. Don't bother me at all. As long as it fuctions after those hibby jibbies!
