Now that i finally have a PS3, WTF can I do with it??? Most games blow...I have Dark Kingdom and it feels like an oversized xmen legends...

 

You could give it to me... ^_- Just kidding. Just use it as an oversized blu-ray player for now, assuming you have an 1080p TV. If you don't, then go get one.

As far as gaming, I'd hold my breathe. The better games are slated for a bit later on.

 

yea, if you're gonna keep it, hold out for a while till the good games come out. that's about all you can do really.

 

Return it for an Xbox 360 Elite

 

I'm not sure if Rainbow 6-Vegas is out yet for the PS3, but that's worth it... and Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 is coming too... those are both awesome games... well, they are on the X360 at least

Go to eBay and see if you can get a cheap copy of F1... Resistance:Fall of Man isn't bad either

 

some vital things you need

-get an extra controller
-hdmi cable
-resistance FOM
-bluetooth headset
-if you're gonna play ps2 games, get a memory card adapter
-go to your computers that are using the same wireless router and enable media sharing on windows media player
-other good games out right now are motorstorm, call of duty, virtual tennis... all good in their respective fields

There isn't a single one of these games I wouldn't recommend. So far so good with the games....while the selection isn't huge...there is enough to keep almost anyone entertained. And A LOT comming out in the next month or so.

yea i played the demo and found it to be quite fun.

 

ninja gaiden looks hot as hell...so do metal gear solid 4 and final fantasy 13...but shit...those are way outta the way...is resistance a first person shooter? And also, I hear we can play demos online of games to come, i wanna try Gran Turismo...how do you get that working?

also, can u charge the controllers without the system being on? that seems kinda ghey...and i wish they put in a freakin memory car slot for th ps2 cards... I almost would rather return it for a wii...

 

sucks..everywhere i look they are sold out of the hdmi cables too...only component...is there a big difference between HD graphics and regular? Cuz regular looks pretty good as is...

Question for you is do you have a 1080p TV or simply 720p/1080i?

Personally I think if you get good quality cables you will not see much difference between the two.

I can't honestly tell on my TV at 1080i when running my cable box through component vs. HDMI vs. DVI ( I have three, one of each)

 

resistance is a first person shooter... pretty much the only good game when it was first released

dont get hdmi from walmart or gamestop unless they are over 6 ft long and under 30$, otherwise get them from Monoprice.com

 

i'm hoping my controllers don't die...they were at half charge out of the box and still are after a few days of use...so hope it's cool. demos are free I assume if you download them? And if i get componenet i don't need hdmi, right? How can i tell what kind of tv i have? 1080i or p? Is it true that it plays hd dvd too? if so do i still get blueray/hd quality with just components? or do I need to upgrade to hdmi to watch movies in HD quality too?

 

You can probably easily find the resolution of your TV by searching its model number on Google and looking around. The PS3 can not play HD DVD, it only plays Blu ray. Some people claim that component is good up to 720p/1080i. I've never compared it to HDMI/DVI so I can't tell you for sure.

 

good stuff...gonna go pick up fantastic four either today or tomorrow...so hopefully that will make a difference...I don't see that much of an improvement in graphics when playing dark kingdom...

 

Alright man, I'm late to this thread and I'm too lazy to read all of the replies above. I'd get Lair and Resistance. If you have never owned an Xbox, get Ninja Gaiden. Fair warning on the game, it's very hard. You sort of need to adjust your reflex to the pace of the game. However, once you get a hang of it, it's one of the greatest game ever. Lastly, make sure to get the Hitman game if you're into the series. It's one of the most rewarding game if you have the patience for it.

Later on, you got MGS4 & GTA4 to look forward to. Now, when you're ready to step up and play games with real gamers, return it for a 360. Halo 3 is coming!!!

Quick Q: Gears vs Halo, which one gets your vote? I will say, as of right now....as much as I love Halo...I'm giving the vote to Gears. I love the dark atomsphere, the paintball-war-like gameplay, the characters and the variety of levels offered in the game.

I haven't even hooked up my elite yet because I've been so busy with work and other fun stuff.

Nope not replaying, but I did get a chance to play the Halo 3 beta. SOOOO MUCH FUN, but I was getting my a$$ handed to me because I haven't played in so long. I've got the legendary preordered as well. Not sure if I will buy that in the end or if I'll opt for the lower version.

Halo hands down. GOW is fun though, I enjoyed playing that game a lot the chances I did get to play it. I just wish there was a damp jump feature in it. It's funny, Halo doesn't have a run feature which i want, GOW does. GOW doesn't have a jump feature, but Halo does.

 

^^^ You're right. I was hoping for them to add the dash feature in Halo 3 since they show Chief running on the latest trailer. GOW would have been nice with a jump button, but I was not frustrated without it neither so

Click on reviews and then filter it by score. Off the top of my head, Resistance is the only big game I'm interested in. I am not too high on the two games you've mentioned N4S & F4. If you're interested in a superhero game, try Marvel: Ultimate Alliance. My friend beat the 360 version and he liked it. But, yeah, check out IGN and join their Insider My uername on the forum there is XR911. I lurk there more so than post though.

 

^ Formula 1 is also worth a looksee...but, that's very much like Gran Turismo in regards to surgical driving. Lots of patience required.
