Forza Motorsport Reviews - True GT4 Competitor!
The Forza reviews are coming in... So far it looks outstanding! I think the GT series finally has a real competitor! I can't wait to pick up my copy.
I will update this thread with more reviews as they come in as some of the sites with reviews aren't exactly well known but here are a few for your enjoyment:
TeamXbox: 9.8 http://reviews.teamxbox.com/xbox/940...Motorsport/p1/
GameArena: 10 http://www.gamearena.com.au/reviews/read/3025050
"At the start of this review, the point was made that given the time and money spent on developing it, Xbox owners had a right to expect an excellent game. However I am shocked by the completeness of the Forza racing experience. Many games do a great job of appealing to a fanatical fanbase, it's pretty damn hard retaining the interest of hardcore gamers as well as making your experience so compellingly spellbinding that people who normally wouldn't bother are willing to give it a go. Forza Motorsport accomplishes this in fine style. This is a console-style racing sim all the way, yet there is no denying this game's wider appeal.
Some games have an appeal that transcends genre loyalty. This has something for anyone who's ever wondered what it would be like to go really fast - that means... everyone. Enough of the praise, this is as close to perfection as console racing has ever gotten. Get it. "
GamesDomain: 9.0 http://gamesdomain.yahoo.com/xbox/fo.../review/113623
"Customization, handling, presentation, AI, damage, multiplayer: Forza hits the bull's-eye time after time. Although it doesn't have quite the bewildering range of cars as Gran Turismo 4, Forza is its equal in gameplay, its superior in AI, and adds the online play GT4 lacked. In gaming, like in business, innovators rarely dominate the market they create for long, and Sony's got some catching up to do."
MSXboxWorld: 9.0 http://www.msxbox-world.com/xbox/rev...otorsport.html
"The first ever true driving simulation to arrive on the Xbox console has achieved the highest standards in terms of graphics, sound, realism and playability. As most people would imagine, creating a driving game on a console that needs to be both compelling and accurate takes a lot of determination, passion and effort from the developer and the end results within Forza prove just that. The developers have without doubt paid a great deal of attention to detail and have put in a vast amount of time and effort to create this game which at times translates to the player putting in equal levels of effort and determination to progress through the extensive world of Forza Motorsport. Forza is without a doubt an essential purchase for serious and perhaps not so serious racing fans, as this benchmark title will probably be unmatched until a successor to the Xbox console is released."

I think i will rent it tomorrow and check it out. I hate picking up games a few weeks after they come out, then going on LIVE and getting trounced.
On the first day everyone is on equal footing.

Here is anonther:
Forza Motorsport really is the complete racing game. GT4 may have offered more modes such as photo but Forza is all about the racing and it shows in a big way. Forza Motorsport probably won't sell as much as GT4 but it deserves to and could easily be not only Xbox racing game of the year, but Racing game of the year period.

IMO.. no racing simulator can compete against the physics and game play of GT series..
what fun is it .. when u cant take pics of your ride and show it to everbody online?
even graphics seem to be lagging on xbox
Forza Screen shots from yahoo games (actual game footage)
and here are GT4 Game shots I took (actual game footage)
let me rephrase that.. forza is lacking polygons.. the cars look too fake.. I love the enviroment though.. but.. cars are --->

legendaryCL98 - plase that is NOT how gt4 looks in game, gt4 rerenders the scene at MUCH higher quality in the photomode then you get when racing.
furthermore how do you have any idea if gt4's physics are any better if you haven't even played forza?

Even without a high level of graphics pleasure, Forza is still better than "Gran Turismo 4." Why? How about incredible online play, solid AI and a realistic damage model? That's in addition to hundreds of cars, impeccable control and a career mode deep enough to rival your local bottomless well.
http://xbox.gamespy.com/xbox/forza-m.../609599p1.html
The graphical beauty found in Forza starts with the big, bright car models. The smooth lines on the car models are of exceptional quality and appear remarkably similar to their real-life counterparts, all the way down to the ridges on the tires and the detailed grills. As nice as the cars look, the real feather in Forza's cap may come in the game's racing environments. Real-time lighting and shadows are shown off to great effect on tree-lined courses like Maple Valley and Blue Mountains Raceway, as well as the cityscape of the New York City track--an intricate mix of urban grit and metropolis glitter--and it all results in a stunning graphical achievement. There are oodles of graphical treats on other courses as well, like the unique tunnel lighting at Rio de Janeiro, the neon-soaked Tokyo course, and the absolutely massive amounts of background detail on Germany's Nürburgring. The 'ring seems to be a regular guest star in today's racing games, but never has it looked as lush, as opulent, or simply as immense as it does in Forza.
Forza's main success is in finding a blend between pleasing the notoriously fickle minority that likes its driving games consistently challenging and demandingly detailed, while introducing a set of user-friendly assists that will ensure that even those who are new to the racing genre will enjoy themselves. Forza may well be remembered as a title that, through its mix of challenge and control, introduced an entirely new set of fans to the beauty and power of driving games.

You can sum up this game in two words, “Sheer Perfection”. For the better of this review though, we’ll go in to the depths of Forza a little bit more! Forza Motorsport is the first game that GameBiz has ever given a perfect score for. It’s the best racing game we’ve ever come across, and that’s saying a lot. Gran Turismo 4, eat your heart out, because there’s a new girl in town and she’s got a lot more than you ever had to offer.

I'm actually serious, when it comes to video game reviews they can be quite different, and are very very prone to being skewed by the preconceptions and experiences and skills of the reviewer. If the reviewer thinks Ridge Racer is the best racing game ever, and says Forza is better, yeah I think you know what I'm saying. Need to experience this kind of thing first-hand before I will make any final conclusions.

Secondly, the GT4 pics are from the photo mode...
Believe what you want, but all of the reviews don't lie.. Forza > GT4

meh.. GT4 was only limited by the hardware of the PS2 which is WAY older than the xbox, its still fun an all and they did a great job with the PS2 hardware but i bet GT5 will be great

In addition, Gamespot just gave it a 9.2 which is unheard of. Gamespot usually gives Xbox games low ratings.

I'm picking up Forza today. Can't wait!!

The Gamespot review is a joke and very biased. Honestly the one thing that kills Forza for me is its locked 30FPS framerate , GT4 runs at a solid 60FPS and the differance is very noticable when you compare the two side by side, GT4 has better control and a greater sense of speed. Gamespot didnt even mention the 30FPS framerate in its review which is sad.

cause a 733mhz processor should be able to handle 60fps if a 333mhz processor can

Sorry to break it to you GT lovers, but it looks like your beloved game has been surpassed.
30fps doesn't mean anything. Most human eyes can't even see much above 30fps.
How about these reviews:
Gamepro: 5/5
Gamebiz: 100/100
Next Level Gaming: 97/100

Let's see.. I'd rather have more realistic physics, damage model, better AI, real-time reflections and 30fps vs none of the above and 60fps personally.

You XBOX fanboys kill me. I just left my boy's house and he has both Forza and GT4. We ran them side by side and GT4 frame rate blows Forza out of the water. Everything from the menus to the car models are better on GT4. I will admit the backgrounds are better on Forza and online play is the shit but other than that the game is a little bit above average. I forgot to add the physics on Forza suck to when compared to GT4.
Bottomline GT4 > Forza.
