Had GT4 been the first of a series, I think it MAY have been rated higher than Forza.

But this is the 4th iteration of the product, long enough to make a superior product.

Even if you don't like it, it's better to have the choice

why? when the physics engine is better in GT4.....vehical damage adds what to the game? crashing already kills laptimes and likely the race unless the car is overpowered. Damage is overhyped.......and when the physics engine still feels likee the car is on a floatation device....porsche, ferrari etc., doesn't make a dang bit of difference.

Well, see what I found there:

Limited number of BMWs
No Lambos in sight
30fps
Laughable graphic, as a XBOX game.
No steering wheel support(This is the most important part, I don't think using a controller to play a racing sim is "realistic")

Thats the Forza board I am talking about, with trillion of XBOX fanboys making posts there everyday. But yet, I can't find how "superior" this game is over GT4.

I gave Microsoft enough credit, they did a very decent job as the first game in the series. But DO NOT let the PS2 vs Xbox rivially thing blind you, please.

Looks like a Forza Steering Wheel to me.

You guys are ridiculous... like a bunch of fucking sheep. Brainwashed by GT4. I play GT4 everyday, I'm addicted to it... but does that leave out the possibility that another game might be on par or better than it? Hell no!

The game isn't even out yet, you are basing all of your opinions off online reviews (reviews that basically say Forza is as good, if not better than GT4) then you pick out 3 or 4 things that it doesn't have that GT4 offers and you automatically write off Forza as worse than GT4.

Play the damn game first, it isn't even on store shelves yet.

I have played it and still think GT4 is the better overall game. Just like an earlier poster said this is the 1st game of this series so it gets high marks for that alone.

Some how I find it funny that the game shipped out to stores yesterday, yet your "boy" had it early yesterday afternoon when a bunch of us went out looking for it and couldn't find it.

Let's just say my boy has a nice connection in the video game industry. His sister just married this guy who works for Microsoft Game Studios and he hooked him up.

My god... I can't believe the blind devotion some people have to the allmighty GT4.. God forbid there is another game that may be it's equal or :gasp: maybe even better. You can all make excuses as to why it's not as good, but in the end, all they are are excuses. The consistent reviews don't lie. Forza is an awesome game.

I just picked my copy up a few minutes ago and I can't wait to play.

The reviews don't lie. Believe what you want. In the end, they are just excuses. Each game has it's strengths and weaknesses compared to the others. Here's my response to some of your excuses:

Limited number of BMWs - It has some models I'd actually want to drive. Otherwise, I'll live.

No Lambos in sight - Does GT4 either? Forza has Porsche and Ferrari which is > Lambo.

30fps - As I mentioned earlier, many people can't notice the difference, and it runs
at a smooth 30fps which is fine

Laughable graphic, as a XBOX game. - Wow... Almost every review that I have seen and almost every pic says that Forza is about equal to GT4 in the graphics department. Does GT4 have real-time shadows, color reflections, full terrain modeling like Forza? No.

No steering wheel support(This is the most important part, I don't think using a controller to play a racing sim is "realistic") - Answered in the posts above.

BTW, there is not PS2 vs Xbox rivarly here. I own both systems. My point is that it's ridiculious a clearly great game is getting crapped on because of some people's blind devotion to the GT series.

Read the 100 reviews I posted in this thread.

Having someone here post a "review" after playing it a day isn't going to be of much value. The game just came out today.

And I can guarantee that the so-called "reviews" here will be colored by wach of our own biases. The GT4 fans (Zapata, Srika, Black-CLS, MSZ) will clearly nit-pick every blemish and the Forza fans like myself will say gloss over some of the issues. The best way is to play the game for yourself to see how you like it.

Overall, you should be able to tell that it's a pretty damn good game based on every industry review. I take reviews like that with a grain of salt usually, but the sheer # of awesome reviews makes it hard to ignore.

Man, you'd think this was a Religion & Politics discussion...

Good for the Xbox people now that the console finally has a decent driving sim that they've been missing out on since Sony got GT3 and GT4...

Personally, I always thought the game looked nice and initial previews all seemed good. I'm likely going to buy the app when it arrives...My only gripe: juggling GT4 and Forza now... A fool and his time are soon parted.

It's not an excuse, I didn't make it up. It's what most of the GT4 reviews said... basically there is nothing terribly new in GT4. It's more of the same. Reviewers don't like that.

Does anybody find it ridiculously funny that a machine 3x more powerful than PS2 has only just now released a game that is "about equal" to GT4?? I think that is really funny!!!

And again, I will post my review once I actually play the game.

Machine does not release software. Developers have to write the software that gets the maximum performance out of the machine. Your logics are really not making much sense anymore..

So you're saying the initial reaction you get from playing a game is insignificant? I disagree. First-time experience with any game is HIGHLY indicative of replay value, fun-factor, and all those things. I don't recall ever playing a game first and being like, this sucks, and then I am addicted to it a year later. That happens a lot with songs, movies, and other types of media - and other types of games, such as like puzzle games and things. But, a racing game - yeah you can tell a lot by picking it up and playing it, even the first time.

And while I am a GT fan, I will give credit where credit is due. If I play Forza and I love the control and I FEEL LIKE PLAYING IT AGAIN... I will definitely let you know.

Also realize, that Forza is the first good racing game for Xbox. That alone is worthy of great reviews from all sources - what I mean is, people are going to give it credit for being the first good racing game for Xbox. What was Xbox's first attempt to dethrone GT? Sega GT2 or something? What a joke.

BTW - let's all keep in mind that currently, the best racing simulation is neither of these games. This, is the best racing simulation:

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...games&n=229594

Of course, it only has race cars - but I'm talking about simulation and realism here.

I'm going to play the game tonight for a few hours and draw my own conclusions.. I am a huge fan of GT4 and I just want this game to be just as good, since I don't have ps2 anymore.

seriously though the thing is amazing... I hadn't driven a fast car in a while and this thing just blew me away. I would get into so much trouble with it.

You are now defending Forza. Can I say you are brainwashed by Microsoft too?

I was wrong about the steering wheel support. But the other things I pointed out are true. You just tried to defend it.

Forza was supposed to be the GT killer when Microsoft announced it 2 years ago. Other than the Ferraries, car damage and online play, all other elements are DEAD EVEN with GT4.

I don't hate the game. But I hate those biased reviews on those sites as many REAL forza players already found out. (That means the game is overrated. Check out the video game-related message boards around the internet, I am not lying here.)

God, some say PGR 2 has better graphic too.

can't we all just get along?

Both sides have reason to rejoice. This is going to force PD to come out with a better GT5!

2 has better graphic too.
if (big IF) all elements between GT4 and Forza are equal, but Forza sports online play and everything that is associated with that (rosters, sellig cars, etc)...that DOES make Forza kill GT4

in my humble opinion

I don't think one feature alone can kill GT4. But thats just me.
