Final Fantasy XII

I love every FF game I've played in the series (FFIII is probably my favorite). Everything I'm reading is that it is going to released for PS2....any word on it coming out for PS3?

Obviously I don't want to go out and buy it on ps2, if an enhanced port will be out in a few months.....

Hmm. Don't you think it'll be playable on PS3? If it's released on PS2? So what's the problem?

It would be compatible, but I would rather wait a month or two and have the/ PS3 version (designed for hi-def/better graphics, if not more) if there is going to be one available

I bought it, but haven't had a chance to play it yet. I figure I should probably finish VII, VIII, IX, X, X-2 first.

haha I have a problem like that with a lot of RPGs. I play until like the very very end, and just stop...no idea why.

Yeah man, exactly the same here. I'm at the end of VII, VIII, and X, but just gave 'em up.

What's worse, I'm at the end of VII twice haha. Also at the end of IX and X. Never played VIII

good game. best since VII (not including XI heh) because there is an ASSLOAD of extra shit to do in game. Lots of secret type bosses and weapons etc. I like the game a lot and would recommend to any console RPG fan.

New battle system takes a bit to get used to, but you can set it up reaaaalllll nice.

Me too. I've only read a lil, but from what I understand you set up the way you want your characters to fight, but don't actually tell them what to do in battle?

No random encounters - sounds very nice!

Gambit system is great. Whole game is great. Similar feel to FFXI in a lot of ways...to me anyway, I'm still not very far in it. The Quickening things I just haven't seem to have gotten the hang of yet. Although I just got to the point where I can start chaining them. The only thing I don't like is the chaining concept for better items since when you're in an area where everything aggros its a real pain in the ass to keep a chain going or to even consider building a chain.

I loved III and VII (favorite game of all time excluding Tecmo Bowl) but was turned off after VIII. Is the game similiar to the early FF games or is it more like the newer ones?

i was told it's very much like parasite eve meets kingdom hearts where you have to actually run around dodging attacks from enemies while waiting for your turn and attack to come up.

I don't dodge anything, but its cool to see the characters actually moving around the monster attacking it and Not just lining up to fight Civil War style.

Yes it's like the new games in that it has amazing CG.

Yes it's like the new games in that it goes through extensive character development.

Yes it's like the new games in that there are more side quests than you can probably find on your own.

I guess I don't know what you like about the old games that you feel is missing in the new ones, but it's certainly the most fun I've had playing an FF game since VII. I personally believe that there are FF games that are large leaps forward over the previous games and this is one of them.

All I know is this game is much more difficult than previous FFs. Gambits take the tedium out of random battles, instead of pressing attack over and over, it just does it for you, but you still have total control.

The only thing I really dislike is the way random encounters are done, I'm tired of dying from a swarm of fucking bats in a mine. There is no way in hell to defend against 7 enemies attacking at one time.

as fun as this game has been, the story is absolute poop (the storyline in XI is way better than this....) Also, the main character is a herb, and the villain is a chump!
