Final Fantasy XII
I love every FF game I've played in the series (FFIII is probably my favorite). Everything I'm reading is that it is going to released for PS2....any word on it coming out for PS3?
Obviously I don't want to go out and buy it on ps2, if an enhanced port will be out in a few months.....

It would be compatible, but I would rather wait a month or two and have the/ PS3 version (designed for hi-def/better graphics, if not more) if there is going to be one available

good game. best since VII (not including XI heh) because there is an ASSLOAD of extra shit to do in game. Lots of secret type bosses and weapons etc. I like the game a lot and would recommend to any console RPG fan.
New battle system takes a bit to get used to, but you can set it up reaaaalllll nice.

Me too. I've only read a lil, but from what I understand you set up the way you want your characters to fight, but don't actually tell them what to do in battle?
No random encounters - sounds very nice!

Gambit system is great. Whole game is great. Similar feel to FFXI in a lot of ways...to me anyway, I'm still not very far in it. The Quickening things I just haven't seem to have gotten the hang of yet. Although I just got to the point where I can start chaining them. The only thing I don't like is the chaining concept for better items since when you're in an area where everything aggros its a real pain in the ass to keep a chain going or to even consider building a chain.

Yes it's like the new games in that it has amazing CG.

Yes it's like the new games in that there are more side quests than you can probably find on your own.
I guess I don't know what you like about the old games that you feel is missing in the new ones, but it's certainly the most fun I've had playing an FF game since VII. I personally believe that there are FF games that are large leaps forward over the previous games and this is one of them.

All I know is this game is much more difficult than previous FFs. Gambits take the tedium out of random battles, instead of pressing attack over and over, it just does it for you, but you still have total control.
The only thing I really dislike is the way random encounters are done, I'm tired of dying from a swarm of fucking bats in a mine. There is no way in hell to defend against 7 enemies attacking at one time.
