Fifa 2007
So I just played a few games with a buddy.
The game has slowed down a lot from Fifa06, passing is a bit more difficult, and getting control of the ball after a pass is not the easiest either. I ended up losing the ball half the time after the first touch on a pass. My old tactic of crossing in from the wings to the middle of the box doesn't quite work anymore. The right analog stick tricks on offence now only work when you have a defender close to you, so no more flashiness running down the pitch.
Graphics are quite different from last year's, and definitely seem reminiscent of one of the older versions, I can't quite put my finger on which one though. The players are smaller than last year's version, and the color of the default pitch seemed a bit muted compared to last year.
Overall, I'd say it's worth buying b/c it's a lot more challenging than last year's edition, at least right off the bat. Graphically it seems to be a downgrade from last year, so if that's a huge factor, you prob won't be happy with it

ive been playing it a lot lately with a friend of mine. It gets really frustrating when the keeper wont come out and grab easy crosses or challenge an attacker at the right time. The defense parts like the Red Sea when it should be squaring itself, and sending someone to mark the attacker.
The gameplay is slightly better, but the AI is definately a disappointment.

^ Odd, I downloaded the demo on teh 360 for FIFA 2007 and it's awesome. Much better then the FIFA World Cup IMO. I probably played the demo for about an hour and will probably pick the game up...

I really need to get my hands on Winning Eleven 9. Been hearing good things about the series for a very long time.
I agree about the defence being a bit dodgy in Fifa 07. I've had a goal scored on me from a set-piece from just below the half line b/c the keeper kept running and never jumped for the ball without me ever having called him forward. The defenders have also a few times just stopped and let the strikers through, both on my behalf and against. It's a little frustrating, but then I guess just have to get used to the game

They make some great patches for the game over at www.soccergaming.tv
The only saving grace for Fifa right now is having all the major team licenses and their passing system. To counter, Winning Eleven 9 has a great passing system and it has the real players names.
If you love Fifa, you should get it pregnant and leave it for Winning Eleven 9
