Favorite Soccer game?
I've been stuck playing FIFA 2002 for the last few years.
I've been wanting to play the new Eleven but haven't gotten a chance. For those that play soccer games, what's your favorite.
for those that knock it, make sure you've played one first. Soccer games are

Except for not having all the FIFA licenses, Winning 11 is the better game

bumping an old thread but what do you guys think today?
I picked up a Fifa Street game a few years ago which was ok, nothing amazing, but what are the best options today?
Winning Eleven?
Fifa 07 or 08? (don't know which is out)
or something else???

FIFA 08 is out, I've been playing it for the last few weeks. It's become a lot more difficult to play than before, you actually have to think before passing and attacking. It's not possible any more to run up the middle with your goalie and score. The pace of the game has also slowed down a lot compared to FiFA 05 or 06, which were the last two games I played before this one. It still has a few bugs that are annoying/unrealistic, but it's a lot better than most of the older FIFA games I have played.
As for Winning Eleven/Pro Evolution, I have never played the series, but I was seriously considering purchasing the latest installment. Only problem, it won't be released in the North American market till at least February and I needed my football fix as soon as possible. From the reviews and forums I've been reading, the latest version doesn't seem to have been as much of a leap forward compared to FIFA.

IMO Fifa 98 RTWC was the best soccer game ever made. EA never ever came close to reproducing something anywhere close to that game. I really like Fifa 08 - a lot more realistic than the previous ones. As far as gameplay, Winning Eleven/Pro Evolution Soccer is better than Fifa. But Fifa has all the official teams and a lot of people care about that. I bought PES6 (European version) for my PC and updated the names, jerseys, stadiums, rosters...etc with patches. The game is much better than the "stock" one but Fifa has much better graphics.

FIFA 98RTWC was the best FIFA I've played. The depth in international teams has not been matched till now I believe. I don't know if it's possible with FIFA 08, but I loved being able to make entirely custom formations on 98.
FastAcura, have you tried the latest PES yet? Other than the obvious PES/FIFA fanboys, I've been reading immensely varied reviews on it.

Oh, and Savage, I believe the FIFA Street series was not very well received, at least Street 2 wasn't. EA is now working on Street 3, which is changing things around a bit I believe. I saw some of the gameplay vids over at gamespot, and maybe I'll pick up a copy when it comes out.

I have FIFA 06&07 and thought 07 was more realistic. You can actually curve the ball when you do corner kicks and such. I havent played the soccer evolution game yet.

I was always into EA, especially FIFA until I played Winning Eleven. Besides graphics and official team logos and such, WE's game play is 100x better and much more realistic. Makes the game more enjoyable.

Not true at all, you just need to play it against your buddies or online.
