I am a brand snob for the actual HDD. Until Micronet tells me what brand HDD is inside that thing, I don't want it.

If its one of those seagate free agent drives they eat stale dicks stogs, sorry.

Had 2 fail on a job right of the box brand new...and their idea of multi-interface is BS with the "interchangeable" dongle that allows for each interface.

pure shite.

Got it.

We have used them a few (8-10) times with good results, but I am mainly invested in the internals like in your Drobo..

Well I don't know much about stuff like this, but so far so good. I got it in this afternoon. It took a long time to format (I guess that's expected considering it's a terabyte) - pretty much all afternoon. Then I partitioned it, and now I'm backing up my internal hdd.
It came with a free copy of NTI Shadow 4, and it installed NTI Ninja along with it. Ninja gave me a bunch of shit, so I'm not even bothering with it. I've read that it's buggy, so I don't think it's just me. Shadow seems decent, though, like I said before, I don't have any experience with this kind of stuff.

The actual case is pretty sleek and feels like a quality product. It's nothing fancy, but it seems solid. It has been very quiet for the most part, and it's barely warm to the touch.

Like I said, so far so good. Any specific questions?

Thanks for the reply. What kind of program or app is Shadow and Ninja? I don't really know dick about EHDs either.

Shadow is backup software with a few good options like realtime backup or scheduled backup and synchronization between two computers.
Ninja partitions your drive into public and private sections, protecting your private partition with a password and data encryption. Ninja is the one I couldn't get to work. It kept giving me errors.
