Ever consider doing a massive sell-off?

I think I may be at that point. I have (what I consider, at least) a large collection of 6th and 7th gen video games, along with some 4th and 5th, but not near as many. My hobbies and interests have shifted to other things, and even when my primary hobby was playing video games I'd only play a select few.

I'm at the point where I want to use the potential funds to go to other things, but I'm not sure I'd get enough to make it worth depleting the collection.

Anyone else reach this point, and what did you do?

I try to keep all the games / systems I buy (excluding PC components). After a certain amount of years, they are really worth more to have physically than monetarily.

The only time I ever sold any of my games was at a garage sale when I was ten. I still regret it to this day.

I sold off all of my secondary systems and their assorted games about three years ago. I now just have one system, and no more than two games at a time. Once I finish a game, it's sold so I can defray the cost of the next one.

With the whole backwards compatibility thing. I end up keeping all of my games from the ps2 and xbox. All of my old pc games are in a cd binder and don't take up too much space. With exception to my NES I don't really have any attachment to old hardware.

When I was a kid, my brother always talked me into selling our old system and all our games to get the new system. We did it with the NES to get the Sega Genesis, then the Genesis to get the SNES, then the SNES to get the N64. Eventually I missed all the old games, bought them all back. Now I'm dead-set against selling any games. I know in the future I'll probably stay awake at night wanting to play the game I sold

I've sold some of my original in-the-box Sierra games from the mid to late 80's

My 1984ish (maybe '83) King's Quest sold for over $300.

I was on a streak like that before, but now with PS3 and Xbox with their trophies and achievements, they still have some replay value to me.

A lot of my stuff got stolen from my house when I was 16, so since then I have bought everything stolen and then some. I have a nice little man cave now and have every major system from the NES on up to the current generation. I have thought from time to time, about selling all this crap, but there are time's where I just want to relive my days of being a kid/teen and pop in Contra, Sonic, Gunstar Heros, Batteltoads, Snatcher, Street Fighter 3rd strike, Final Fantasy ect. and just play. That usually happens when i drink though =]
