Dell XPS 420

There is a Dell XPS with Intel Q6600, 3 gig of ram, 320 gig hd, and a 512meg 8800gt for $1200 without monitor.

Ultimate Entertainment
Dual DVD and Blazing 3D Graphics
425Watt Power Supply Included!

It seems cheaper to buy from dell than buying the parts from newegg.

Comment and opinion pleaz!

and you get insane customer support with any XPS. When i first got mine and had a question, they would call back several times asking if everything was still ok.

Same here....I had a prob with my XPS when I got it, within an hour it was fixed and they called back at least twice to check up on the system.

Ive had nothing but good luck with mine and I've had it over a year.

People said that they had overheat problem with the 8800 GT because the Nivdia driver didn't crank up the cooling fan on the video card during intense game play.

Do you guys with this particular XPS have any overheating problem?

if it's a driver problem it seems more like nvidia's problem than dell's, if it's a problem on all the cards the dell will probably be no different.

677MHz vs 800MHz

Dell wants $50 more for 800Mhz RAM instead of 677Mhz. What is the difference? Will they put a better motherboard if I pick 800Mhz for the memory instead of the 677Mhz? So, if they do put a better motherboard for the memory, that $50 more is worth the extra, isn't it?

i would think the motherboard stays the same, they just use RAM that works at a different frequency...
