Built my BF3 rig!

Finally built a new computer for BF3 and myself. I was previously running a Q6600 dell inspiron 530. Now I got me a serious rig.

SPECS:
$200 intel i5 2500k 3.3 (soon to be overclocked)
$50 8gb corsair vengence (9-9-9-24) DDR 3-1600
$115 asrock gen3 extreme 3 board
$25 coolermaster 212 cooler
$240 sapphire radeon hd 6950 2gb (will unlock to 6970 specs)
$110 cooler master sniper case (2 x 200mm, 1 x 120mm blue led) free mouse with this case when i bought it
$55 corsair 650xt power supply
$188 128gb Crucial M4 SSD (sata 6.0gb/s)
$50 1tb samsung spinpoint f3

FIRST IMPRESSIONS:
Amazing boot time, 10 seconds to load windows after bios splash. Made a few changes in windows with the paging file and indexing. I left the write caching alone on the hard drive after running a few tests with it off. Also updated the SSD to new firmware which made it run even more lovely!

Now some pictures..

Waiting for build.

Only pics with it open, mobo and ps are in already

Lots of screens in the background

Blue leds that can be shut off

Some SSD read/writes

Just a random screen shot (this was with write caching off, crashed my 4k write time)

Oh and recently gutted a 1.5tb external and im going to pop that bad boy in

Total cost ran me around $1100 without os/monitors/speakers/keyboard/and mouse. It is ivy bridge and pcie 3.0 compatible.

Still have a bunch of work to do for this build to get it running the way I want....

is there anyone else have any gaming setups they built recently specifically for BF3? I would love to see.

Nice set up! Those prices make me feel sad. I spent more on my computer for less performance two years ago. That's just the way technology goes though.

I bought an EVGA 570 superclocked to get read for BF3. I'm not sure if that's enough to run the game on it's highest settings, but it will certainly be a step up from my GTX 280. Also, I'm thinking of buying another fan or heat sink so that I can over clock my CPU without worrying about it melting.

Nice setup man! Yea I bought a refurbish system last year and for anticipation of BF3. For $800 bucks I got a core i7 950 (3.0ghz) with 9gb ram DDR3 and a 750gb HD (7200rpm). I now added a 2gb HD, 600w psu, and a gtx560ti OC. Playing the beta with everything high I get a steady 60fps, which is pretty nice. Still have my Deathadder mouse with is great and combine with my razer headphones I am good to go.

This is my pc setup I have to leave the side of my case open because everything would not fit into it. Its a stock case btw and plus leaving it open like this cools it better.

Yeah it should cool better, just watch out for dust bunnies. If your Graphics card fan gets clogged, your going to have some problems. I'd recommend ghetto rigging a mesh filter over the fan just in case.

Who's to say I wasn't referring to Jewish ghettos? Or maybe Chinese ghettos? I can be a multicultural racist with one word!

Looks pretty solid!

As mentioned above, I just bought an EVGA GTX 570 SC (non-HD). It's a great card, but I've had a few problems with it. When I first installed it, it was running stock speed. I contacted EVGA and they sent me the bios over email the next day; problem solved. Now however, it seems unstable. If the game is graphically intensive, it crashes within 5 minutes every time. Down clocking it to stock speeds solves the problem, but defeats the purpose of having an SC'd card. I think its a power problem unrelated to the card, but I'm not sure yet. Make sure yours is running a SC'd speed after you set it up.

You know I had a similar problem with my 560, it was factory OC and would crash every now and then. The problem was that it overheated when I played graphic intense games like Bad Company 2. It was due to the fan not spinning fast enough to cool it down. So I just max out the fan speed every time I play and it worked fine no crash.

But as of lately I install the recent beta drivers for BF3 from nvidia and games runs fine without me needing to increase the fan speed. I just left it normal.

Also, yea as of dust bunnies I regularly clean my system every month with some can air so I'm good, no need to ghetto rig lol.

You could probably settle for the asrock gen3 extreme3 and a smaller power supply in order to get a bigger SSD. The 128gb crucial m4 gets better results plus more space for your OS drive. I have seen the 128gb for $175 at times.

Unfortunately that's not the problem. I had my fan on full last night, temps stayed around 43C and it still froze up. Thanks for the advice though.

I'm still convinced it's a power problem, I have too much plugged into one outlet. Easy fix would be to use more than one outlet, but my house is old and only one outlet is grounded in my room. I think I'm going to try to fix that this weekend.
