Do the batteries in these old NES carts still work (for save games)?

Yeah, once tried running through the game without any of the warp whistles. I got to World 5 or so before I got so sick of playing.

There have been many games that have already been mentioned that I loved but here are a few that haven't been mentioned that were some personal favorites of mine
Super Dodgeball (pick Sam, he's teh best)
1942
After Burner
Top Gun (Yes, I could and still can land on the aircraft carrier, and get mid air gas too.)
R
Captain Skyhawk (my fav NES game of all time!)
Commando
Metroid (had to mention it again, it's a classic!)
Rush'n Attack (it too was mentioned, but its also a fun game.)
Tiger Heli
Break Thru (I've spent most of my young childhood playing this game, so fun!!)
Jackal
Skate or Die 2 (the best of the series)
R.B.I. Baseball
Baseball All Stars
Wizards and Warriors
Solstice
Trojan
Slalom

That's all for now. I had over a 100 games as a kid and loved playing all of them....minus Rambo..that game sucked!

I liked 1943 better but both are fantastic.
@ Top Gun landing the plane
I used to love Super Spike V'Ball. I always used Ed and Mike. It's me and my friend's name.

Growing up, it seemed that only a very few of my friends could successfully accomplish this feat. I played it again not too long ago and was still able to do it.

Super Spike V'Ball was awesome, until I left it at my friends house and never saw it again.

Also, I had a cartridge that had over 80 games on it. There were obviously games that you couldn't get in the states, so I'm assuming they were only released in Japan. There were some pretty cool fighting games on it, a prelude to the Street Fighter series.

you can crack them open and replace them yourself. not that hard to do just need the right driver for opening the case

We used to crack open Super Famicom cartridges so we could play them in our SNES.
