best way to swap out a HDD in a PS3?

I've been looking to upgrade my HDD for my PS3. About a year ago I got the 80 gig over the 160 gig, and I'm already halfway through filling it up...

So I was thinking, what's the best way to transfer saved games, downloaded games, etc between the two? I was thinking I'd just take the 80 GB hard drive out, put it in an external enclosure, put say a 250 GB hard drive in the PS3, then send the stuff from my 80 gig back to the PS3 with a USB cable. Would that work? Anyone ever do anything like this?

There should be a section in your PS3 manual that covers this. I think its as simple as purchasing a 2.5" internal drive. Im not sure if you have to stay with a 5400rpm drive, or If you can upgrade to a 7200. Go for it I wish I had a PS3.

I have about ~12 demos, and a few of my games require hard disk installation (namely Metal Gear Solid 4 and Bayonetta) plus I have Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2, which lets you save cinema clips. Of course I have a dozen of those (they suck, don't ask about them )

So basically everything. I plan on keeping this system for a long time, and since I'm already halfway through the 80 gigs in less than a year, I figured it'd be good to upgrade.

Yeah I know about that. From what I hear you can use a 7200 RPM drive, but for some reason, people are saying to stay lower than 500 gigs... which is pretty much overkill anyways I was just trying to see if other people have swapped out the HDD, and how they transferred all their saved games, movies, etc.

- bought from PSN
- installed from disc (such as Soul Calib IV, decreases load times nicely)

Its literally ONE screw. Just a phillips screwdriver and 30 seconds of your time.
