Well, I preordered one from gamestop back in december, and now they're telling me it might not be untill march that I get mine . So, seriously, what do you guys reccommend at this point? Anyway i could get it at best buy, circuit city, sams, any online store? Any advice is appreciated....

wow, I preordered from gamestop in october, and they overnighted it as soon as it was launched. It was not for me tho.

 

Don't go to a technology store but a store like Walmart or Target where there are less techy people looking for it. For example, go to Target prior to opening as they get their new inventory every night. If they don't have any go to the guest services desk and ask them to do a merchandise locate (207-21-0001). This locate will search all locate Target's in your area to see if they received any.

Otherwise eBay.

XBOX 360 is the hottest holiday item this season. Everyone is on the same boat...waiting on Microsoft. Whether it is Best Buy, Circuit City, Game Stop, EB Games, Wal-Mart, Sears, Comp USA, Target, Costco, Toys R Us or the Dollar General...they will all be gone within minutes. The best chance to get one is to camp out for the 18th re-launch. No Merchandise locate will help as they all just tell you they are on order and don't know when they will be in.

Normally your advice would work, but this is a whole different beast.

I agree but doing a merchandise lookup on the specific # gives a person a leg up over everbody else. Most people just walk away after asking but if you go to the guest service desk you never know if another Target in your area received it. It will save people the time of calling or even driving to another store.

My future suggestion is plan ahead and pre-order like I did ;-) (Costco.com)

From what I have read, several stores have received them...Microsoft is just having them wait till the 18th to sell them. Even if someone found one, I highly doubt it would be up for sale until then.

It has nothing to do with MS. Best Buy internally decided to hold another launch event.

MS is trying to get the consoles out as fast as they can, but there are yield problems with their CPU.

They only sold 332,000 at launch so far. They originally estimated they would have over 1 million at launch but only hit 30% of their original target. This is an actual production problem, not artificial.

 

if you preordered (not prepurchase) one and don't expect it till march, just keep the preorder in but be on the lookout for the units at stores in the coming weeks. that way, if you do find one, you can always cancel the preorder later.

 

I preorderd in august at Gamestop. They said that I 'should' get it 'before' Christmas.

same here i ordered in Oct. And my eb didnt have a long list. And they guaranteed before xmas also. but i dont care. I am in no hurry. get when they call me or when i feel like going to other stores. But i know for a fact that this stupid 2nd release date will make lines outside camping again. And i am not doing that. And i think that it will make it hard again for parents to get it for presents.

 

I'm starting to think that it's a conspiracy from MS. 1st launch is a few days before
Thanksgiving, and 2nd launch is a few days bofore Christmas? Um......okay!

Hopefully, when I get mine, all(most?) of the gremblings will be worked out off the system.

 

Check your local TARGETS.. i read in Xbox forums:

1. Guy works there with management. Got corporate email stating amounts being shipped to all stores. (talking about 2 shipments. one on the 11th. to go sale on the 12th. about 7000 to all stores, and other shipment on the 18th to go on sale on the 19th about 12,000.)

So check your target stores today if not next monday.

It said on the email that the MSRP was $399 so Im guessing its the one that comes with 2 controllers and the headset and maybe a game but i dont know yet.

heh yea i never liked the xbox, for one i never liked the controller, and despite it being more powerful that a ps2, the graphics werent even that much of an improvement. that and the games on it didnt really appeal to me.
