Just curious if anyone here drive racing sims. I don't mean racing games like GT3 or NFS. I'm talking simulations like Grand Prix Legends, F1 Challenge, Live for Speed, or the Papyrus NASCAR sims.

I like sims and games. I wish Live for Speed would hurry up and be done already. I want to play the final version.

Not NR2003. I didn't want it as a NASCAR sim. Unfortunately, now that I know about about all the cool mods I can't find a copy of the game anywhere. I primarily play the RH2004, Prototype C, and ETCC mods for F1 Challenge. I suck royally but I have fun. If my planned 'puter upgrade happens sometime soon, I'll probably import Richard Burns Rally and GTR from England or Oz.

ah ha... Fortunately I was a NASCAR fan..and grown to love that game. I've got my own paint schemes as well (where I started to learn all about photochopping ) Maybe I should make an Acurazine car...hmmm...
I love the trans-am mod. I also have the nurburgring track for the game...it is saweeeeet!!! Driving a Ford GT through that track is awesome! Gotta have damage off otherwise you wouldn't even be able to finish one lap

Tell me about it. I drive the 'Ring every now and then in the ETCC mod. I actually had the whole thing memorized at one point. Once you've driven that track, even if only on the computer, you quickly realize that it's nickname of "The Green Hell" is quite appropriate.

This is the first time I've heard of Live For Speed. How does it work? Is it a lot of fun? Do you have to pay for it?

hell yeah..... we network GT Racing whenever we get a chance... it's a mod for F1 2002 by EA, for PC. here are a couple of videos:

video 1
video 2

Honestly after playing this game, GT3 feels like Ridge Racer... ok I may be exaggerating a bit there. This game is ultra-realistic, we will play it for hours and hours sometimes... and the next day we feel like we've raced at an actual track in real life... its intense really. My feeling is that no console game can come close to this experience... reminds me, I need to check whether there have been any updates for it.

oops wait... ok I didn't realize which videos these were - surely these are not the best indications of realism from the game... LOL... these are some stunt videos, I had modded this particular F550... I think it has something like 1600hp - resulting in that wheelie LOL...... but at normal hp levels, it's realistic lol.

and in the 2nd video, I'm doing something like 300 mph at the end of that straight... I will get some 'real' race footage from this game and post later.... lol

oh yeah the track is Road America, Elkhart Lake, WI... in case you couldn't tell.
