Yeah I think only the US based NES versions were without Kojima so in the future they might continue without him. But as stated earlier, the stories are told. What more can be done especially without Kojima?

FYI Best Buy is also selling the Collector's Edition as well. If you're in the Gamers Club you get it for $80.

 

Does the license leave with them?

Perhaps, a director with Kojima's vision/style can continue the line...

 

I doubt it leaves with him. Ultra developed the NES versions and the first one I remembered was directed by Yoshihiro Sugimoto.

 

Yeah...kinda like for Ninja Gaiden when Itagaki left Tecmo. Although, that series has been in hibernation since and the sequels have had poor reviews.

 

Yeah, Konami owns MG, so I doubt this is the end. But any MG without Kojima involved would be weird.

I kinda hope it is the last Metal Gear game. On a side note I hated the ending to MGS4. They tied everything up nicely, you knew it was the end for Solid Snake and Otacon.... but then after the credits roll and the logo pops up Snake says something akin to "Nah... I still got business to take care of"

I just re-played part 4 last year and re-watched the post credits scene. He pretty much says he has very little life left and was going to live it out. That's the business he had. Not another mission. It felt like closure IMO.

 

Well, local hobby stores will typically carry it but you may as well get it via an online retailer as their mark-ups may be a bit less than the usual comic store?

Dunno. I would expect that to be around $100ish.

 

I guess I have to replay it sometime soon. I do remember Snake and/or Otacon making some remark that alluded to yet one more final venture. Forget what was said exactly but I do remember getting the feeling they were trying to yank us around with it

Just look it up on You Tube. MGS4 post credits and you can hear it. Instead of playing Metal Gear Portable Ops which is only on PSP, I watched the video of the cut scenes and boss fights. You Tube is useful for that.

 

For those who haven't bought Ground Zeroes yet, it's free on PS3/PS4 this week. I'll get a PS4 copy since I had bought the PS3 one.

by the way, I recently remembered back in the first MGS after Snake kills Wolf, Otacon asks Snake "What are you fighting for?" and Snake replies "If we make it out of here, I'll tell you."

I insist on getting the Meryl ending every time so I don't know if he ever does tell him.... does he?

Yeah but I'm happy with that. I just wish Konami didn't remove all the A Hideo Kojima Game from everything.

 

I was kind of hoping the Day One edition would include Ground Zeroes... Still haven't played that yet. I was thinking I'd wait and play GZ immediately before Phantom Pain. It'll have to be the PS3 version for me.

Anyone speculating they'll have a sale or something on GZ on release date?

GZ is pretty cheap on Gamefly. It was free for PS+ last month. I freaking loved it and it's a great setup story.

Sadly I probably won't play 9/1 when I get the game. I'm holding out likely for Black Friday for a PS4. I am getting the game early so that I can the special edition.

and yeah this game is getting perfect reviews so far. Considering how long it's been in development, it should be a given.

 

Yeah I checked and it's already mostly out of stock or like $20. I think Best Buy has it for $17. Honestly I paid $20 when it came out and I take it as buying a Blu Ray because you will get more than 2 hours out of it and it's a great story and great demo for the controls. Plus there's a fun side mission where you shoot shit from a helicoptor.

 

Might not get the pre-order. The card I ordered with got canceled (BofA loooooooves canceling cards), so I attempted to update on their site and it wouldn't work. I tried calling and it's a half hour wait. Might just say fuck it and wait till I get a PS4 and catch it on BF.

 

Reviews so far for this game are off the charts. Looks like we have a must-have gem incoming in a few more days.

Well, sir...if there is a reason to GET the PS4, it'd be for this game and Bloodborne IMO.

I'm still playing Bloodborne and that's a pretty darn good game if you are willing to stick with it...worthy of the high acclaim.

 

But I don't even game anymore. Doesn't make sense to buy a new console just for 1 game
