when you guys unlock prestige mode, are you gonna do it? You lose all guns/challenge accomplishments, but you get a nice eagle sign near your name.

 

Sure am. Unlocking things is one of my most favorite parts of the game.

My play suffers a bit because I'm always using the shitty guns to try and unlock stuff.

Level 44 here i've been playing this pretty hardcore lately. Heres some of my tips.

Primary Weapon
Use the M16.
The M16 is by far (so far) the best assault rifle. Scratch the ACOG scope and take the red dot sight. The grenade launcher 'can' be useful but it's not worth the two grens you get with it, the improved sight will get you more kills over time.
The 3 round burst will kill most people so it's a nice compact shot.

Use the G3.
It's a single shot assault rifle but it's very accurate with very little recoil. I have literally used this gun with it's red dot sight to pick off snipers.

Use the P90.
I don't know about you guys but this is a great close combat monster weapon.

Bomb Squad - Detect C4s Easier
C4 x 2 +2 C4's
Claymore x 2 +2 Claymores
RPG-7 x 2 +2 RPG
Speicial Grenades x 3 +3 Special
Frag x 3 +3 Frags

Perk 2:
Juggernaut - Extra Health
Slieght of hand - Reload quicker
Stopping power - More Weapon damage
UAV Jammer - JAM enemy radar (keeps you from being detected)
Sonic Boom - Bigger Explosive Ranger
Double Tap - TBA


Perk 3:
Extreme conditioning - Sprint Longer
Steady Aim - Steadier Aim
Last Stand - Shoot Pistol While Dieing (if you get shot once you die)
Deep Impact - Bullets Will penatrace thin walls easier and provide more damage
Dead Silence - Less noise while you run
Iron Lungs - Hold Breath longer while sniping
Eavesdrop - Listen to enemy Communication (headsets)
Martyrdom - Drop a Frag Grenage while dieing

I totally agree... like I said before I think the ranking on this game is waaaaaaaaay too easy... I played RS-V for months and I think I only got up to a major, right now I'm a 3 star general (with COD4).

I also think that at the end of every match, the person at the top shouldn't be based solely on how many kills but it should be based on kills/deaths ratio... I mean... if you had 30 kills but died 25 times... you only net 5 (because you "run and gun") but suppose someone was sniping... had only 15 kills... but yet only died twice he net 13 thus... doing a lot more for the team than the guy that had 30 kills but died 25 times...

 

True. Although remember how chaoctic SOCOM was with the ranking system? Holy hell.

I do like how the server "evens" the team based on total experience prior to the start of the match. Something SOCOM never did.

 

But remember how cool it was to get your "wings", it was something earned at least partly due to skill.

The speed at which you rank up is largely based on your skill. More kills = more XP. More XP obviously = higher rank.

So yes, the ranking system isn't based solely on skill, but the speed at which you achieve your rank isn't based just on hours played.

For PC that is! My cousin got it already yesterday.. I'll get it after finals next week!

 

I have heard that HQ is the best game type to rank up in. But do all the challenges and use different weapons.

It seems like most of you here are playing on 360... How many people are PC-ing?

 

Well I finally got it for the 360 last night. I really wanted to get it used because GameStop is currently having a buy two used games, get one free. But I ended up buying it new anyway. Got few the first few levels, but haven't really got a chance to really get into it yet. The training course was actually pretty fun though. Has anyone actually completed it in 19 seconds? My best time is 25.

HQ owns, and as soon as I max a weapon I head to the next one.

 

Veteran mode FTW. I only have the last 2 levels to complete on veteran mode. Which are basically impossible.

 

I ranked up by concentrating on the challenges and perfecting my skills with each weapon. Although, ranking up the shotgun was NOT FUN AT ALL.

 

What makes HQ so fun?
