For months, rumors have raged that the Call of Duty series would follow in the footsteps of Battlefield, its biggest rival in the military shooter genre, into the modern era of warfare. Today, the franchise's publisher, Activision, made it official. Developed by COD creators Infinity Ward, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare will eschew the franchise's traditional World War II setting in favor of a fictional conflict set during contemporary times.

Unfortunately, the setting is about all that's known about COD4. No details--including platforms--were revealed to the press. Instead of issuing the typical press release, Activision has decided to unveil the game via a trailer that will be shown during the NFL Draft on ESPN at (10 a.m. PDT /1 p.m. EDT) this Saturday April 28.

I was actually thinking about playing through COD2 for the 3rd or 4th time a few days back.

Just some more info... I read in a thread on Team Xbox that Infinity Ward is bringing COD back to the PC, which really excites me. Im never a fan of console FPS. I just hope there is some co-op multiplay.. That's gonna be money, right there.

 

Also, they could just drop the 4 in the title and just call it Call of Duty: Modern Warfare because that would sound better in the future so you wouldn't have Call of Duty 6,7,8,9 etc...

no FPS has captured the essence of Vietnam. NONE have been able to get the jungle graphics down, anything. every vietnam shooter i have played was crap. medal of valor came a little close, but still lacked it. i dont blame them however, vietnam would be a hard war to recreate without some crazy graphics card. they need to get the feel from platoon or hambuger hill down

looks ok. a little too highspeed/jerky for me (at least for being on a console), very classic shooter style.

Silver, I know I shouldn't be complaining cuz it's free... and I'm NOT, but I was just wondering how long did it take YOU to download?Cuz so far, it's been over an hour... and it's only about 60% done

 

Honestly I don't remember, I was playing Bioshock while it was downloading.

But I don't think it was more than 1-2 hours.

 

...yeah, I had to leave the house with the 360 runnin'...

btw, I was going to start a thread on this, but it comes out (I believe) the same day as Halo 3 so it's gonna get NO attention but Ubisoft, the makers of the GRAW series and Rainbow Six is coming out with "America's Army" and it looks pretty damn good! It was FREE for PC downloading, a game sponsored by the Army to promote recruiting, I guess it became a big hit (on PC). Anyway, if you haven't already checked it out... you oughtta

 

okay, I'm really liking this demo... a little bit chaotic (a lot of run-n-gun), but it's pretty cool... BUT like ALL of the other Call of Duty games... for some reason I get a little montion sickness after awhile... (I don't get it with Rainbow Six or GRAW, a little with Gears of War)

 

So who's picking this up?

My local store is getting it in tomorrow night. I'll grab it on the way home.

 

i might pick it up just becuase its made from same company that made part 2. Part 3 sucked for me!!

 

i got it a day early (local store sold some copies early), and this game is amazing! the multiplayer is tons-o-fun, i def recommend you guys pick it up.

 

I'm pretty stoked about this game. It comes out on tuesday right? I'm hooked after seeing that trailer. I wish the PS3 got the demo too.
