That's awesome, but way wayy too much work. Sanding down the CPU face for a mirror finish? That's paying attention to details.

that's lapping. CPUs dont ship with perfectly flat surfaces, so you sand tehm down so they can make better contact w/ the heatsink or block or pot. it can drop temps quite a bit. not really an aesthetic mod.

Oh, I guess that makes sense seeing how the CPU is going to be blocked by the heatsink/fan anyways.

I may have made that connection if it hadn't been 2 am when I posted.

oh and btw you arent sanding down the CPU, just teh nickel plated copper heat spreader that rests on the silicon and gives it more surface area. copper conducts heat better and u can make sure it's flat. just to clarify for any curious readers
