Window Tinting Shop In Chicago Suburbs??

Hey guys.. I am planning to get my windows tinted in the next couple of weeks. I searched the forum for some places that might be in the area that does windows, but I would like your advice and recommendations of a GOOD Window Tinting Shop. So far I found Umbra window tinting in Arlington Heights. Have you heard of them and are they reputable? If you know of any shops that do excellent work for a great price, please post it.

Thank You

I've used this guy twice, and he's great. A little pricey but the work is excellent.

He works out of:
Express Auto Glass on Ogden Ave. in Naperville.

CarSmart in Frankfort, Illinois and also in Chicago Ridge, Illinois. You can visit their site at becarsmart.com. I like CarSmart because they are very experienced and knowledgeable . They carry an outstanding line of Diamond tint. Even when my cars dirty you can see the shine and sleek glare off the windows. Their line of percentages of Diamond tint are also great in that they carry 60%, 50%, 40%, 30%, 20%, and 5%. Most places carry 35% instead of 30%, but if you don't want to get pulled over, want to get something lighter on the fronts, and still want it to look like the same percentages all around, go with the 30%/20% combo. One other thing I like about their tint is that it looks dark like that percentage on the outside but looks like you barely have tint from the inside. You maintain great visibility during the night even tho u can't see in.

Per ChicagoBurbs recommendation, I went to this place in september of 2007. The guy is excellent, talks you thru everything, and very patient. I also recommend him. Work is first class. He takes pride in that he takes no shortcuts.

Just had mine tinted by this guy and he did a fantastic job. Charged $325 which included behind the trim pieces in the smaller quarter windows. I had 35% up front and 20% in back. I did the moleskin myself. Definitely recommend!

$325 ?! holly shit people. that's double what I paid. people is burbs rip you off everytime. I'd like to compare $325 job and $165 job and see the difference. I bet there isn't much.
That ever works right...

You get what you pay for. Did they tint behind the trim pieces in the quarter windows for you? This guy also backs his work 100% and will redo it years down the road if need be.......I've seen it done. The going rate that I found seemed to be in the range of 250 but I was willing to pay for a good backed job.

Yup! He seems to be a complete no nonsense kinda guy. He assured me that if for any reason something happens to the tints, he would gladly redo his work.

Also, he pretty much works by himself and takes his time. Took 6 hours on my car to make sure everything was perfect (not that time is a main factor to good work, but certainly is something to consider).

Ive seen 165 dollar jobs. Use of cheap tints, bubble formation within months, crap stuck between the window and tint due to a quick clean job that took them less than 30 seconds per window, and shoddy edge cuts. Ive talked to a few of these tint shops around the chicagoland area, and many gave me lame excuses for why they would not tint the rear quater window entirely. Some were downright unprofessional in their rhetoric and salesmanship. I know what im looking for, I know what goes into tinting thanks to research and this board, and a lot of these shops did not qualify my standards.

Yea, some us of paid the 325, but we are pretty happy with his work. Lifetime material and labor warranty from him, lifetime material and labor warranty from Express Auto Glass, and LIfetime material warranty from SolarGard. We're sleeping pretty well knowing that the work is backed to the fullest extent.

Also, the clarity of the SolarGard tint is exceptional from the inside looking out.

I'll give you rear quater window deal as these guys didn't do it, but I know people who had tint for 2yrs from these guys with no problem. Since I'm not planning on keeping my car for more then 2-3yrs. it really doesn't matter.
6hrs. is sure a long time. Is he drinking on the job

All jokes aside do what you want, but I sure don't mind saving $160 and putting it in different mod. Then again I'm cheap bastard anyways. We will see how this works out.

I'm posting my pics today, so look for it if you want to see tint.

IMO its much cleaner when the quarter window is done properly and the tint is under the 3rd brake light

IMO when you make 3 spelling/grammar mistakes in one short sentence, you probs dont care much about details to begin with. (the 3rd one is 'brake' if you just only counted two, ha)

Is 3M the best tint? What is? I need just my side windows tinted in 35%, the rear is already tinted. I like 45 minutes north of Chicago, I want a quality job, quality tint, and the side 1/4 window done properly. I need to find moleskin also. Thanks much! Jeff

Revival instead of starting a new thread.
Searched and found this.

Q: Has anybody found a good tint shop around Chicago, possibly North of the city ( I live 12 miles from Kenosha Wi.) That does a great job AND tints the 1/4 window 100%.
Any new comments are greatly appreiated
I am having windows tinted 35% all around in July 2012 (Legal in IL)

Thankyou ahead of time
Have a great Day

I went with auto image in Barrington. They do all the cars for the Motor Works of Barrington dealership. The guys did a fantastic job and really took their time. $250 for nice ceramic tint with lifetime warranty. No mole skin and still no scratches at all. I would highly recommend them, and the owner, Jeff I think his name was, is a fantastic guy to work with, answered all my questions and then some.

There's a shop near the intersection of sacramento and the green line. He did my car for $120, lifetime warranty. Excellent tint job, got behind the brake light and did the quarter window very well. I get a lot of compliments about how good my tints look.

The last time I had a TL tinted was at Shaded Days in Lake Bluff IL. They did all the tinting for Knauz BMW and did a good job, BUT they didnt do the 1/4 windows 100% like i asked So I wont go there again

My name is Jeff also
Did they do the 1/4 windows 100% ?
What brand and version of tint do they use ?

Thankyou Very Much
I will do a search online

i'm looking for ceramic as well. what brand tint did they use? do u have their number?

i have used Mid-America Glass in schaumburg, great work on my last car but they use metallic tints which looks awesome, however i think it will kill my radio reception in TL.
