I'm looking for a (new/non-used rebuilt) trans for an 02 TL-P. Has anyone in Chicagoland picked up a transmission from a non-Acura-dealer & it has held up? Or even gotten an aftermarket rebuild done on their original pre-2005 transmission case?

I need to find a trans or get a rebuild very soon since dealerships aren't helping me out. All ideas appreciated.

 

dealer or trans shop. no one is gonna have a trans laying around, well i do but its complete shit.

 

Well I'm not really lookin for someone to say "here I got one". Just more of a pointer on where you guys got yours from or where you've had a rebuild done at. Has anyone used AAMCO at all?

Bump, some people had to have gotten rebuilds done somewhere.

 

not that i know off. they go to the dealer and get it replaced. i just swapped in a used trans for hella cheap

My trans was blow. Only good in 1st and 5th gear. So I was looking for a used trans just to swap it in and sell the car. I found a guy that was gonna sell it to me for cheap. I hussled him (that's life) and got the engine, trans, engine bay harness and ecu for pocket change . The solt the harness and ecu and made money. So I got an engine and trans doe free basically. Trans still works to this day, I just don't beat on the car like I used to

I appreciate the suggestions, but the problem I have is that all these shops look like customization-type places. I'm looking for a shop who specializes in transmission rebuilds, not body kits or visual/performance mods.

It's cool though, someone gave me a tip & can get a rebuild for $1500.
