Kidding aside about the snowmageddon here is more the peeps who do NOT have snow tires and parking lots that were not cleared yet. Not exactly easy to spot any curbs or dividers are.

 

And yet J was using snow tires in Florida....

Let me tell you those things had good tread but they sucked ass in the rain and were soooo sloppy for cornering
and traction. Then I realized that tire compound matters!

Yumcha...serious shit...they should have a change program where you can get into a JL Wrangler on 37's during the
winter months like @ebelp Then you could point the car wherever you want in the snow and just GO.

 

If I take this as fact, and judging from anecdotal evidence around here, where the jeep owners point the car then during the first snow is the ditch.

That's the issue up here -- where winter tires are not mandatory (by law). The issue is not GOING...it's stopping and snow tires do help you stop. On Sunday evening, as I was trying to get home, I sat at this one intersection for 5 light changes because the 3 cars (2 on my left and 1 ahead of me) had ZERO traction. They just spun and spun and spun. And so, those of us with proper footwear got out and tried to push but it was not happening. Thank goodness these guys did not slide across the intersection and cause a major car wreck. That being said though, over the 2 days of the snowfall, about close to 400 accidents were reported with 2 dozen hit and runs.

Otherwise, I LOVE extreme winter driving TBH. With a good set of winter wheels and a good car, just taking in the experience of seeing your car power through the elements and what nature has to throw is quite enjoyable. It's just the people around you that makes it nerve-wracking.

I recall driving in a manual rental car in Switz one winter...they hadn't
put the anti freeze additive into the tranny and the thing was stuck in
one gear when we came out after dinner in negative 16 degrees...I was in
there with my uncle's brother just working that knob to warm it up until
it broke free and he was able to drive it home. We laughed hard at that
story.
