Gents, just wanted some input/insight: Is a dash cam (for front and rear) worth it? I passed the stealership this morning after dropping off Little Cha for skool and casually inquired about a set and Audi's OEM part for the 2 cameras installed is $1200CAD.
Thoughts?

They're good but that's really steep.

Well, it's TWO cameras. One for the back and one for the front. And I guess, "official Audi" (likely, another brand with Audi marking it up 32412412432142% by slapping their name on it).
Just need to read up more on how the camera works though. Like, if my car is off, does that mean I need to keep it running to track any people who hit it? Or does it respond to a proximity? And does it not drain the battery? Living in the Arctic, this would be a concern as I don't really want to walk to a dead car in -30F weather.

I think there are much cheaper options out there with more versatility etc.
@thoiboi knows shit. Like buy at Costco, use your Scores credit card to get 100% off and have 100 year warranty and stuff.
I have heard of blackvue...
my Audi actually had one in it I took out because...well, I forgot to put it back in.

I've run one of the original Blackvue cameras in the past and had an Anker (Roav) dashcam in the GTI. I've yet to wire one into the R due to pure laziness, but I do feel that they're cheap insurance. Aftermarket cameras can range from $60 to $600, it all depends on what you're looking for though. I personally like cameras that have GPS built in for a speed overlay, and those that have a parking mode. The Roav, while cheap, did not have GPS and the parking mode rarely worked properly. The dash cam market is saturated though - just make sure you get something that will work in the temperatures your car sees.

Probably was a base Stinger and not the GT.
Sure the Stinger driver was trying? Might have only been at 1/3 throttle, which seems likely. I have an Optima too, so I can tell you how it feels.

Naw, the roads are actually quite dry despite the snowfall the last few weeks. It was bare pavement. Anyways, just was interesting to me that I finally sprinted against a Stinger GT. Good looking cars and definitely more abundant here in town than say the RLX -- although, I have noted that I have yet to see a own one of these Kias.

Straight Pipes did an episode recently with the Stinger GT and the Golf R. They were basically identical in the 0-60 times even though the Stinger has +80hp on the econobox. Reason being is the Stinger has a torque converter auto which doesn't build a ton of boost before letting off the gas whereas the DSG can build max boost and drop the clutch for a harder launch. I don't remember what the S5 has but could be the reason. Also, the Stinger is pretty heavy, especially in AWD form.

So, with the economy up here slowly opening up, there are obviously promos by stores/shops...I took advantage of 20% promo from a known detailing shop in town for their ceramic protection package. After 2 days with them, got the S5 back...again, I have no talent for taking pics but the shine is pretty noticeable. And gotta love that smoothness feeling on the surface. Pretty happy with 2-days of work for $500 with the discount added in.

Yeah, the rail dust seems to be common for new cars? They usually sit in lots before/after shipping before going to dealers.
Nice shot of the fender/door area! Maybe its just the reflection playing tricks but the lines are very aesthetic. Never really noticed that in particular until now.
Man, the B9 looks great.

Being and the fact I showed up with a mask on to drop and pick up the car, what do you think?
Yup. Had a pack of Clorox wipes to wipe down the steering wheel and buttons...sat in the lot for a few minutes doing that.
And I got home, washed all the clothes I was in when I climbed into the car with today.

Well, my car sat in a lot for long time...she was in quarantine for a number of weeks because of the emissions scandal. The S5 had to re-pass all the requirements and etc. from the government.
