C’mon man, use those mirrors.

Or do what I do... if you’re going somewhere where risky parallel parking is in play, take the wife’s car.

I got a driver's side wheel on the Mercedes shortly after I got it
Really poorly lit intersection & a non-90* cross street. Snagged the curb making a ~120* left turn.

Oh. I wish it was like that.

Idiot here (me), was driving along going home from work and the lane/road narrowed as we approached a bridge going over a ravine. Well, I didn't account for the curb coming IN and well, my front passenger wheel basically did a "bounce" and kissed the curb that came outwards. Half the rim is now decorated.

Car goes in next Tuesday for rim repairs because the owner is an idiot.

Hey...imagine that...you are cautious and look at tall the mishaps! New car turns to a used car real quick! Shit happens, yum...don't even sweat it.
I know you're racialist, but are you sure that your next new car you don't want a white boy to drive you around a bit before you start damaging it?

Have you seen the number of us that have taken our "nice" cars through the gauntlet with inept driving and parking?

Well, I'm living up to that.

Thank god it's a Hyundai Optima.

Dumb question and I think I know the answer...
but do you have launch control? (not lunch control...that would stop your belches).

I am sure you got that option.. you know our cars can park themselves right? While it may take a few minutes and hold up traffic but we are , we dont care.

I haven’t tried it on my A.

I already get in enough trouble switching from rentals back to my car. Wayyy too many instances of passing someone, looking at yhe speedo and seeing too many digits.

Don’t need the temptation to add unnecessary displays of acceleration to my list of sins.

Nah...it will be something I try maybe someday down the road. Although, I did give the car 94 octane for the first time after going on 91 since my usual gas retailer (Esso) only offers the latter.

94 gives the car more pep and is more efficient from what I'm seeing.

So, what do I do? I drive it into a curb.

Dude...
do it while you mofos are under warranty. It's a feature.
sport mode, traction off...hold brake and hold gas...when it bounces off the 3 or 4K let go and it releases it and launches.
Pretty cool.

I tried it a few times with 5 people in the car... It did absolutely NOTHING... too heavy.

Mine shows a little checker flag when it is ready.

The tune removes the limitations on how many times you can do it.
I've been assured by @SamDoe1 that I can do it with a wet clutch without issue.
It never did it before but after the tune and e85 it consistently knocks my all weather mat back.
Pretty good indication of torque

I'll give it a go sometime once I get all my idiocy out of my system since I'm sabotaging my own car. Let's get the wheel fixed and then, I'll give it a go.

May have to do it very early on a Sunday morning.

How is that possible if you are driving ...? We weigh nothing.

So, stop blaming the people. Be accountable.

See? Did I blame the curb? I blamed myself for being an idiot. Gosh.

Blaming others is such a Dennisov move, oono.

it's because they blasted me with math equations and gave my car a pep talk on seppuku if it wasn't faster.

They also probably calculated the physics and aerodynamics you needed to have in order to reach optimum NOS speeds.

I don't think there's actually a limitation, it's just a counter. At least that's how it is on the Golf. Launch control is a feature of the car, there shouldn't be a limitation on how you do that, it would be similar to telling you how many times you can do a full lock left turn before the warranty is void.

The wet clutch just reduces wear. It's not like it's not hard on the car but the clutch wear is minimal...at least in stock form.

Mine will throw your phone from the center console into the back seat. I rock weathertech mats so they don't move lol.

The VW cars with the digital dash will say "Launch Program Active" or something like that when they are ready to go.

I was going to jokingly tell you all to just do what I do and run a bigger sidewall than any curb in the city, but JFC what size are those brakes.

Brakes are of no use for me...I plow into things.

Here's the unmolested side. Since well, the passenger side was flooded and I abused the rim.
