I actually rode in one of those in France last year...insane accelleration but the owner says it's a pig on the track. Too heavy and unresponsive to run with cars with 100 less hp.
Gorgeous car, inside and out. Audi, bring it to America!

That audi RS4 is From Europe. The car is also here and it is called the Audi Allroad, go here to see it http://www.audi-allroad-quattro.com/en/home.html. It was rated the best offroad and onroad combo car in 2001. For 41 grand you can't beat it.

Nah, two different cars. RS4 is based (loosely) on an A4 Avant, and continues the tradition of the legendary RS2, both heavy on the Porsche engineering. Audi Allroad is an A6 Avant with adjustable suspension and lots of grey plastic body cladding (did a GM stylist work on it?), and is Audi's attempt to cash in on the SUV craze without building an SUV. Nice car, though....

ummm... I dunno how you can say its a pig on the track!?
Would you call an S4 a pig on the track?
A RS4 is just an S4 with more power, better handling, and better weight balance.
It will stomp the fuck out of an S4 on the track or on the strip so it is anything but a pig

His words, not mine...but I can understand what he was talking about. RS4 is not a lightweight or particularly nimble car, with a tendency to understeer in about every possible corner. Sure ewverything's upgraded -- massive brakes, massive power, massive tires -- but it doesn't dance like a true sports car does.
Consider some numbers:
Skidpad: 0.87g
Slalom: 63.4 mph
Very impressive for a station wagon, but a half-notch below a 911, M3, Z06, Tuscan, Elise, etc.
It's a GT in the grandest sense...trans-continetal touring for five people and a dog. Don't get me wrong, it's an incredible car, but it's not made for the track.

Makes sense...
I dont know... Ive never driven a S4 hard...
Everyone talks bout it like its the cats meow though... so I'd figure a station wagon which typically has better weight balance and a more neutral center of gravity then a sedan would handle better.

Unfortunately my friend, the AllRoad is definetly not the same thing as the RS4. The RS4 is an S4 Avante on serious steroids, the All Road on the other hand is the A6 Wagon (Avante) with a beefed up pneumatic adjustable suspension (mind you I wouldn't mind having either one ), it's bigger than the S4 Avante with the same engine as the S4 in an A6 package (the All Road that is).
Has anyone seen the nifty spare in the All Road?? That thing is bad ass, he has a compressor, and the actual spare itself is stored in a deflated state. I believe the spare is full size as well (when completely inflated). Very cool idea..
