We are driving a NISSAN SKYLINE. It is one of the best sports car of all time.
The TL is based on Honda Accord. It is one of the best family sedan of all time.
The TL is pretty nice, my friend got one but I prefer the overall performance over a nicer interior
DAMN THIS REALLY PISSED ME OFF WHY DO THE FUC@#ING ACURA DEALER CALL IT A ACCORD..AND HAVE HONDA SIGNS ON THE WINDOWS..DAMN........

And this suprises you? You'll find two things in every "G35 is better than TL" thread - RWD and more torque. These are nice things if you care about that type of thing. Just like people who buy cars just because they have more HP. Anyway, I drove both, and I liked the TL better. Period. I consider myself an enthusiast, but RWD and torque don't really matter unless they seriously affect the drive of the car, or if I plan to spend a serious amount of time at the track. The TL has plenty of torque for my liking, I barely ever notice that it's FWD, and I don't plan on spending a lot of time at the track.
All that being said, the G35 is a very nice car - actually the only other one I seriously considered when buying the TL. Unfortunately, some people are stuck on the RWD thing and even though most of them never really understand the real benefits, they'll tout this as long as one of their main competitors is FWD.
Also, I am not insulted at all when someone says I drive a Honda. I consider Honda to be one of the highest quality cars built today (second after Toyota, and that includes Lexus). Infiniti/Nissan will need a few more years of building decent cars to move up in the ranks for me. And for a family car the Accord is very sporty. Check out how many times the Accord has made Car & Driver's 10 Best list - even more than the BMW 3-series. That's pretty indicative of what a great car it is and has been.

Really Wats A Faster Car A G35 Coupe Auto Or Tl Auto??my Friend Got One And He Thinks He Got A Much Faster Car Than Me..and I Didnt Say Nothing Yet Becuase I Might Lose..should I Try To Race Him??would I Lose Badly??any Expeirence
Damn I Cant Lose..i Had A 2000 Porsche Boxster With 56000 Miles B4 Tthis And I Got Really Baddly Burned At A Green Light But After 40 I Kept Up But Still Couldnt Win..my Tl Has Only 2500 Miles And His G35 Has 13000 Miles..i Would Never Win From Red Light Or From Highway Or 30mph Range??
looks like the g35 is about 3k more than the TL with the same options is that about right??? according to www.carpoint.com ... The TL gets a little better mpg's... looks like the G35 will beat the TL by about a half a car or so with the auto trans. and they have about10 hp and 32 more ft lbs of TQ but a bigger engine also. I also looked at the g35 but did not drive one tho and went with the TL also.
well... the g35 guys are talking just a little too much shit... but I agree with some of what they.. I test drove both of them (twice each) before I made my decision on TL, and here is what I have to say:
- I personally like the Exterior look of the G35 better than TL
- G35 Coupe is A LOT more fun to drive (Faster, better handling, RWD, louder, etc)
- but TL's interior just KILLS the g35's.
the two reasons I didn't get the g35 was it's crappy interior, and i'm a sport sedan fan, not a 2dr.
Of course everyone like luxury, and performance, but you won't be getting both until you get to $90k range and get yourself a nice AMG or something... so in lower price range, you gotta sacrifice a bit of either one... someone like my dumb ass cousin pays 32k and get a ford f150 lightening (400rwhp) and inside you looks like SHIT... and someone like me pay almost same amount of money and get something with a half torque but 10 times better interior...
there is always a car faster than the other.. my cousin's lightening would RAPE 50 g35 coupe everyday, but so what??
like JetJock said:"Who cares which one is faster...buy the car you like better."
each to his own, right?
peace out

Dude, I love how the title of this threat is "G35 forum talking bad stuff about TL"...
When I read so many threads on this forum that talk all kinda of shit about the G35, i.e. its ugly, the interier is crap, blah blah blah....
THe fact of the matter is everyone has somewhat of a chip on their shoulder as to what car they drive, Thats why G35 owners talk shit about the TL, and TL owners talk whit about the G35, 3 series, etc.
Some people on this forum really think that the TL is the greatest car ever made, like there is nothing better.. I will never talk bad about any car, every car has its positives as well as negatives. Its just human nature, to point out everyone elses faults..

Thats funny, I love it when people bash eachothers cars. Even though nobody on this thread was bashing. I find it amazing that even though the TL is Losely based on the accord everybody thinks it is. The only thing the TL shares with the accord is the name honda, and whats in a frame nothing really. The components make all the diffrence.
Im sure everybody buys the 2 cars for diffrent reasons. Mine a thought the TL was a nicer car......The G35 handled a nicer when I was flogging it in a couple of little twisties on the test drive but guess what Im not going to be doing that everyday. If I was the TL holds its own. Now the interior's no comparison. You can have a nice interior from the G35 and a nice analog clock???? Or you can step up to the TL which hands down blows the pants off the G35. Hands down no arguement there. Even the reviews state this. If the TL was RWD or AWD there wouldnt even be a discussion.

The original poster there was talking about the motortrend long-term test car review which stated that the TL was "boooooring". What do you expect from magazine reviewers who focus on the driving dynamics rather than the amenities of the car. There is absolutely no doubt on which car drives sportier as there is no argument which car has better amenities. I actually think the guys at G35driver were pretty nice compared to some of the members here
They don't talk about the TL too much there...they obsess much more about the BMW 330
They don't talk about the TL too much there...they obsess much more about the BMW 330
They weren't really talking much crap about the TL, new/whip. If speed concerned you THAT much, maybe you should've bought the STi or the EVO.
What they said in the forum is correct.
Different strokes for different folks.
What they said in the forum is correct.

Penis envy!
In EVERY road test the TL has better 0-60 and 1/4 mile times than the Gee -whatever. I don't care that someone doesn't like my car but to act like "my dog is bigger than your dog" when neither one of us has really big dogs is stupid.
In the Road & Track comparo the TL won every performance and feature catagory but came in fractions of a point behind the 330i and the Gee-whatever because it's FWD. How stupid is that? It handles better, it's faster, it has more features and better styling (R&T's description) but it's not as good because of some preconcieved notion. If you can pull more g's on the skid pad, post faster acceleration and lap times, change lanes faster and do all the other things better than some other car then you have a better handling car...... I don't care what end you drive it from.
And this BS about the TL being an Accord with frills is really ticking me off. We DON'T have the same engine, we DON'T have the same suspension, we DON'T have the same subframes, all we have is the heavily modified from the original platform the body sits on.
Why don't these kids with they're "slower than my TL" Gee-whatevers quit pissing in our ashtray. If they're so damned proud of their cars they shouldn't have to try to make any other really nice car seem like something less than what it is.
I feel better now.

you missed the rest of that quote

Those new TL's look like Pontiac's, especially the exhaust tips they look like they're from the older GTP's. IMO the best looking sedan from Acura is the TSX, but too bad they only come with a 4cyl and are so slow.
Ok time for me to attack that entire forum:
<Those new TL's look like Pontiac's, especially the exhaust tips they look like they're from the older GTP's. IMO the best looking sedan from Acura is the TSX, but too bad they only come with a 4cyl and are so slow.>
Sort of like how those G35 sedans look like Passats with their tall, narrow shape and headlights stolen from the Prelude styling (first vertical headlamp assembly ever).
<The TL isn't even in the upper echelon in handling among luxury sport sedans. It's funny how the C-Class & X-Type are maligned for their handling while the TL is credited w/ "excellent handling for a FWD car" (which actually means worse handling than even "bad" RWD handlers like the C-Class). I don't want a car that handles well for a FWD, I want a car that handles as well as the best RWD luxury sport sedans. The TL isn't even close.>
The TL out accelerates most Luxury Sports Sedans within 10k $. It handles quite well as a car in general. And it does all this while offering some of the best amenities and interior quality of any entry luxury car.
<Now, be careful...your friend can call our G is a Nissan!!! >
Yes we can, and that's the main reason why I didn't buy one. Honda, to me, is a lot more respectable as a car brand than Nissan is.
<Hey but, the TL is based on a $18k Accord while our G is based on a $30k Z>
The difference here is that the TL is better than the Accord in every way, but the G is worse in every performance aspect when compared to the Z that it was based on.
<As far as calling us Nissan - I'm all up for that. I'm Nissan Skyline, they are Honda Accord.>
Your car, not you, idiot. The new RL bested the Nissan Skyline's lap time on a handling track recently. A large, heavy luxury sedan beating out "one of the best sports cars in the world" on the track. The 5 year old Acura NSX-Szero out accelerates this year's Nissan Skyline GTR. And finally, the Skyline is not sold here. You are driving a soft, toned down G35. The Skyline GTR is much more performance oriented than the G35 coupe "skyline" that they have.
<He may call it a Nissan, yes. But there's no direct corrolated model in the Nissan lineup. It even uses an entirely different frame AND is RWD. The Honda/Acura's are built on the same frame, same drivetrain, same everything but eccoutrements. Now THAT is a similar lineup. >
Oh no.. it's not a Nissan. Please say it's not. Keep telling yourself that guys. I can spend 10k less and still get that wonderful VQ engine in an Altima. They might as well come out with a 3.5 Sentra SE-R with the VQ engine. That would be tight.
<Or you can leverage that by asking: where's your TL built? Japan or US. ;-D j/k >
Nissan ranks below many Domestic name brands in Initial Quality.
<That said, I've driven both the 04 TL and 04 G35S. Both are sweet in their own ways and both were 5AT. With a 5AT, getting the G35S/X is a no brainer. There's not enough torque in the TL to produce any lowend performance through a 5AT. Coming from an 02 Maxima, the TL's lowend was pretty disappointing. >
Cheaper cars feel very fast. My friend's old Honda Civic hatchback felt extremely fast in it's 9 second run to 60mph.
<On a side note, the G felt more solid than the TL, IMO.>
Personal opinion. I completely disagree. You want to feel solid, ride in a german car.
<Hey, I love my 4-door 350Z! ;-)>
Keep dreaming. I love my 4 door NSX too.
<We are driving a NISSAN SKYLINE. It is one of the best sports car of all time.

Read above. The G35 is not the Nissan Skyline. The Skyline GTR is the real skyline. The G35 is a watered down version.

Who cares about calling them Hondas or Nissans.
They are Acuras and Infinitis and they should be compared on their merits.>
This is the smartest person on that forum.
<Yet it it had the same suspeniosn and same RB-series engines as GT-R. Underdog would be a good word.>
Once again, sort of like how the TL engine is related to the NSX engine? Did you know the TL is torsionally more ridged than the G35?
<If you LOVE cars, and you LOVE to drive, then go with the Infiniti. If you LOVE electronic gadgets and you LOVE great interiors at affordable price, go with the TL. When I saw that the TL is a FWD luxury Accord built in US, the quest ends there for me. However, many people claim "I'll never explore the capabilities of the performance on my car" - yeah, definitely a TL for you. >
No, if you love to drive, get an S2000 or a 330, or even a 350Z.
<Oh yeah, as far as name calling: You can't really trade insults between an American Accord and a Japanese Skyline, that's just not fair. ; ) >
I don't hear any name calling. This is all one sided by an ignorant forum full of idiots. I'll give you name calling. Nissan is the lowest ranking Japanese nameplate on the JD power initial quality review.
<My friend has a 2004 TL less than 6 months old. Among it's problems:

CD player stopped working altogether.
Car sometimes fails to start.
A friend of his who is a Honda dealer suggested he try to lemon-law it if his Acura dealer can't fix the starting problem.
I know some people confuse interior fanciness with quality, and conclude the TL is higher quality, but if you actually examine the quality of the materials used and their assembly the Infiniti is way superior although it does look plainer and more spartan.
I am very happy I bought my Infiniti.>
My TL has been flawless thus far. I'm happy I bought an Acura
<I agree,
If you want interior gadgets get the TL. I've mashed both pedals and my choice is clear.>
How it feels is not how it is. The TL consistently out-accelerates the G35 sedan in comparisons. Once again, the Civic hatch comes to mind.
I say these things to bring myself down a few notches and show everyone what can be said about their childish comments. My actual stance on the TL and G35 is respect for both cars. I chose a TL. I love it. If you are going to small-dick it and talk like that forum did, you deserve this response as much as the next guy. Just enjoy your car and shut the hell up.

Since when is an RL greater than a Skyline GTR? do you even have a clue what your talking about. GTR (R34 I'm guessing you were referring to) is one of the best production cars of all time in my opinion. Rated at 280 ONLY because of the Voluntary Japanese HP Restriction.
NSX > GTR? How much thought did you put into that one slick? The GTR would OWN the NSX in some scenarios, while the NSX is much better at cornering.
I just flamed someone over in that G35 thread for posting without doing any research, but it looks like all forums have one.

Check out how many times the Accord has made Car & Driver's 10 Best list - even more than the BMW 3-series. That's pretty indicative of what a great car it is and has been.
All that being said, the G35 is a very nice car - actually the only other one I seriously considered when buying the TL. Unfortunately, some people are stuck on the RWD thing and even though most of them never really understand the real benefits, they'll tout this as long as one of their main competitors is FWD.

Is the way they are lined up in quality. Check again. And truthfully all the new Hondas I have been in, feel cheaper and cheaply built compared to the older ones.

Now if you want to talk Acura/Infiniti, I would somewhat expect 2004 to be lower for Acura since they introduced 2 new models. But, if you look at 2003, you'll see that Acura and Infiniti are almost the same (Infiniti one point higher) in the IQS. You'll also find that the Acura TL is ranked #3 in the Entry Luxury Car segment behind the Lexus ES300 and Cadillac CTS. In 2002, it was tied for 2nd with the ES300. Looking at the 2004 VDS, you'll see that the Acura TL is #3 behind the Lexus ES300 and Infiniti I30. I don't see the G35 on any lists.
However, like I mentioned above, the intention in my post was to identify that I consider Honda to be one of the highest quality auto mfgs in general (second behind Toyota/Lexus). I guess that wasn't clear to you. If you want to get down to the details, fine. But in that case, getting down to the real details shows that the Acura TL is a high quality auto based on JD Power; again, no mention of the G35.
LOL, you don't see the G35 on the lists, because its not in the same class. RWD vs FWD. G35 in every comparison has won against the TL.

If you look at the overall initial quality results (JD Power), you'll find that Honda falls significantly higher than Nissan. In fact, Nissan falls lower than the industry average. Ditto on the Vehicle Dependability Study (JD Power).

BTW, besides the G35, Honda > Nissan with every other vehicle.

The G35 is a nice car and I bet there are some great deals to be had on the '04s. The Infiniti dealer is across the parking lot from Lexus of Louisville and I counted at least 25-30 unsold G35s sitting there. Seems deals abound on everything but the new RL and TL.
Sure hope my new car wasn't built on Monday morning by some Kanucks who spent the week end guzzling Labatt Blue.
