Wow, are you serious? I agree, Evo 8's are like the fastest things evar!!!!

Just kidding. Aside from a turbo swap, methanol injection and race gas those things are pretty slow and take a lot to make power. GST Motorsports, a pretty well known tuner shop, tuned an Evo 8 on 91 pump gas with cams, injectors, turboback, and some other goodies only make 270 to the wheels.

Evo's are nice cars. Just get that thing pimped out to 250 - 300 WHP and you'll be just fine.

What kind of dyno was that on? Sounds like to me.

An Evo with a TBE and tune will put down more than 280 at the wheels.

With boltons/good tune/methanol you can put out 400+ on a stock Evo turbo, and run deep into the 11s.

There are guys out there running 10s on the stock Evo turbo.

After some looking into it, it was on a Mustang dyno, which could explain it. But I looked at a thread and you're right, with a "restrictive" RRE TBE and what I'm assuming is stock boost (24 psi) and a tune, an Evo 8/9 (not specified on dyno chart) pulled a little over 280 awhp.

I'm not too familiar with Evos, and I heard it from a friend of mine who has an Evo X which is running on E85 and last made 400 AWHP on the stock turbo before his clutch started to slip on the same dyno. Now has a bigger turbo and six puck (yuck). I remember he explicitly said it was an Evo 8, with cams, injectors, exhaust and a tune though. He didn't specify anything else like if the car had any issues, but he saw the 8 go on the dyno before he got his X dynoed.

Just sounds weird. I have no idea why you would upgrade injectors on an Evo without using a bigger turbo/meth. Just doesn't make sense.

The results themselves made my jaw drop when I first heard them. I remember hearing 8s dyno around 220 stock (this off the top of my head). Thinking about it though, you have a point... No need for extra fuel delivery on a stock turbo, and it didn't even eclipse 300AWHP yet so it definitely didn't have an upgraded turbo or meth/E85. A brain fart on my part

My friend was talking about injectors all day (because E85 requires ~30% more fuel, according to my buddy) with another guy who has an Evo 9 and I figured I could get some insight too. I think I had too much on my plate that day.

Evo's look is played out for sure, but they are fast as hell! That is the truth, isn't it?
