Uh

I was saying he already had a lot of power mods to bust his tranny without the need of nitrous.

My buddy got his SRT8 to hit 12.5 in the 1/4....

His tranny didnt hold up long though but he had it rebuilt to be stronger and sucker was a beast. Too bad he sold it.

damn. blew my jeeps tranny when i was 16.

sat at the bottom of the steepest hill i could find. redlined it in PARK, not even neutral, and threw it into DRIVE. The transmission nearly fell out of the thing. (It was under warranty). ...The dumb crap we do when we are young..

Things like that make me sad. Mostly because there's a 0.01% chance that the owner built *ANY* of that car himself.

That transmission is actually a Mercedes 722.6 5-speed unit with a Chrysler supplied torque converter. What this video shows is that doubling a vehicle's horsepower and then applying massive drivetrain shock (in the form of dragstrip launches) can break just about any transmission.

This is why drag cars have such heavily modified and beefed up trannies, as well as massive scattershields should something go awry.

From the looks of that picture, the torque converter in that one let go. I don't know about you, but any transmission failure that tosses a calzone sized piece of debris into your footwell is something to think very seriously about......
