According to the owner who so graciously detailed the catastrophe onthis spectacular failure occurred while sitting in a parking lot. Idling. Seriously.

To get an idea of how this could have happened, just take a look at the list of modifications made to this Grand Cherokee, which by the way had 420hp to begin with.
BES 426 7.0 motor (fully forged)
BES Custom Intake manifold
Kooks LT headers catless, Jet Hot coated
B&B exhaust
Vortech YSI Supercharger (16lb - 22lb boost)
Direct Port Nitrous system
Progressive Nitrous controller
Custom intercooler (anodized black) with Nitrous spray bar
Custom Fuel tank
Aeromotive Fuel System (Fuel pump, boost referenced regulator and 2 filters)
90lb Bosh injectors
Modern Muscle 85mm Throttle Body
Super secret transmission / transfer case
Trans Brake (oops!!)
DTS custom "Pro Stock" rear diff
Strange 35 spline axles
Interchangeable center sections (Spool / ARB locker)
Penske "Coil over" racing shocks
DTS custom Drive shafts (front and rear)
Paramount Performance Posi front diff (Dana 44 with Tru Track)
Richmond gear sets (front and rear)
Brembo Gran Tourism front brakes
Safecraft fire suppression system
Relocated battery with track cut off switch
Rear roll cage
Chase digital recording system
From the looks of it, this Cherokee was a well built, if not a little on the uh, extreme side. The cause of its ultimate demise is still being investigated, but the owner doesn't appear too fazed by the incident. In fact, he's already building another JGC SRT-8, this time with twin turbos.
Take cover.

Im trying to figure out how that was even physically possible. My hunch is the that the oil was so hot it blew apart the tranmission casing like a peice of glass. He had alot of drivetrain power parts, but nothing about a transmission cooler.

!!!!
wtf are you talking about? Only ricers drop in bigger engines and supercharge their cars? You fail.

It sounds like the guy wanted 750 plus out of it. So he'll just build another one.
where's my gold cup.
That's a great point.
