OK, I'll admit I think both the Viper and Taurus instrument panels and consoles are fine-- they don't seem that horrendous to me.

The Viper interior would be much improved just with different audio controls or a different radio head unit.

OK, the shift surround is OK. I'll give you that, but the HVAC and radio do not belong in a car of this caliber. And the actual stack is bad. The gauges are alright, but the whole center stack's layout is just

It's not like every S8 came with the black/brown combo though?

It's not the best color combo, but not the worst.

The new GTR interior has always struck me as dated:

The gauge cluster and center stack needs work.

It doesn't look dated....but it does look like it belongs in a SUV vs. one of the fastest production cars.

Can you explain what's wrong with it without using subjective terms?

Does not flow with any particular design theme.

The car had a bubble theme going on. If it violates a rule of design I'm not seeing it. The only thing that looks particularly odd is the AC vent semi-centered above the glove compartment. Otherwise it looks like they went out of their way to make an ordinary family car look less boring.

Here's the rest of the car for context:

I don't find the controls very ergonomic. I also don't like the fact that the dash is the only black portion of the car. Everything around it is tan, and it looks out of place.

I won't disagree that it's said that one color is exlcusive to the dash but that's extremely common, all the more so in budget commuter cars. In most of the Acura lineup afaik there is only a single dash color and it's independant of the upholstry color.

It might not be very ergonomic, I can't tell from the pics, but it can't possibly be worse than those cars that put the gauge cluster over the center stack.

The thought of someone sinking a single dollar into customizing a Ford Taurus makes me want to cry.
