Even if you could somehow force them into selling you the car at the auction price... after witnessing first hand how they've treated you, why would you want to do business with these people? If I were you I'd drop this whole thing and take my money elsewhere, it's not worth the trouble.

Needs more Lemon Pledge
You should show them this thread and tell them that "the internet" said you won...

That auction result is legit and the dealer needs to grow a pair and live with the fact that he fudged up....4K is not worth all the bad publicity......
OP I would walk away right after you get them to capitulate.....

Even though it is a good price, i would give them the ol and tell them repeatedly violate themselves.

remind me to use that line when I enter into a contract agreeing to pay x amt for y service and lets see how far that gets......lol

For example when lets use "Target" as an example....they post a 52" flat screen T.V. online for $250.00 instead of $2,500. Peeps order them up like hotcakes.
Target comes back...refunds all the money and says "oops...our error"...sorry...here is all your money.
In this case no money was exchanged....dealer says it was a posting error...no reserve......no sale....no money lost, no harm, no foul.........if it was a legitimate error/oversight.

Regardless of what is said here.. OP had to release 500 same day, and pay in full within 3 days to guarantee the sale. Does anyone read the fine print?
The dealer refused to sell, as the car has a lien on it (no one read this either)..so this is a bank's car.. meaning.. the dealer does not care as it is not his car.
Whatever the outcome, do you really want to deal with douchebags over 4K? It's not worth it what so ever...
Forget about it. eBay will revoke them. They will open a new account. So they really have nothing to lose.

you have a binding, enforceable contract.
you have damages (the difference b/t the purchase price and the going sale rate
of a similar vehicle)
you must get an attorney. start calling and file asap.
your damages are around $14k.
get on it. you will not succeed unless you file IMMEDIATELY.
you'll need to sue for damages and atty fees.
you'll probably also need an injunction to keep the dealer from selling
your car. make sure you are liquid and can finish the sale. do not depend
on finance.
i want to see you make out here"

Something like this happened with a forum member on Bimmerpost when he got a out of state M3 a little while ago. There was a lot of discussion over it, to the point there was 60+ pages of responses. It was a similar situation, it was a EBay auction with a low reserve price. He got the winning bid, and the dealer refused the sale. He ended up getting the BBB, BMWNA, etc involved and GOT THE CAR at the auction price.
EBay auctions are a legal binding contract. Whether or not to pursue the dealer after the sale is up to you. However if you chose to, I would definitely find legal help, preferably someone with this kind of experience. IMO if you go at it hard enough, you will get the car, but there will be effort and possibly fees involved.
You have offered to pay a deposit, hopefully you have prove of it so it will stick if it needs to go to court. Good Luck!

mmmmmm....
why you trying to get something out this rather than just the car??
I fucking can't understand people suing others for "emotional distress". Is your "emotional distress" really worth 14k?
Get the car, and call it a day. No bullshit extra earning money.

This is going to turn into one of those threads where OP gets nothing from a douche-bag seller but a lot of head aches.
For the record....I think you are right, but sometimes being right will still cost you thousands in legal fees.
