Will your next car be an Acura?
#43
Looks like I'll be seeing some of you on the Audi forums in the future.
I voted NO because I don't like any of the new designs that Acura is releasing. I'm actively looking for a new ride because the lease on my Audi B7 A4 will be up next April. So far, I'm hoping the B8 S4 will come in true manual trans. If not, maybe the B8 A4 2.0T, or could also be the E92 335i.

Maybe not extremely soon, but SOMETIME in the future.

Wow, less than 6% say "yes".
That's pretty awful.

It is in the sense that I think (emphasis on 'THINK'...) that most of the people on this forum love/loved the acura(s) they have owned. Acura has just taken a turn for the worst in their styling department though, and are losing valuable customers.

The only people who voted yes are either too ashamed to show themselves or they actually work for Acura.
My next car won't be an Acura for a very long time.

I love my TL but I am not in a market for a new car. When the time comes I will be open to the idea but I have no idea what my next car will be.

Most people here are car enthusiasts, and Acura as of late has little of what car enthusiasts are looking for.

If we posted this poll in a Soccer Moms Forum, the results might be different.

I want the new CTS-V. I want a C6 Z06. I want a new M3. I want an R8. I want a GT3 RS. But the fact is that none of those cars are actually going to be my next car.... sadly
I'm sure there are quite a few people on AZ who can afford the new NSX assuming it will be north of $200,000. But the actual number of people whose next car actually will be a new NSX... I'm pretty sure we'll be able to count it on 1 hand.
Fine, a previous gen NSX, maybe. But it seems like most people here are referring to the new cars.

Nah,
Audi is probably the brand I will go with. I'm watching the 2010 S4 with the supercharged V6
I'll still have the RL for probably 2 more years before jumping ship. Being my first and maybe last Acura, at least I'll be going out having owned one of their best products.

They've gone mainstream just like Subaru has done with the new impreza. That's the only way they can increase sales and profit which is what they are worried about. They don't care about the enthusiasts because we aren't the crowd that is carrying them, even though we speak the most of the brand. what carry's them is overall sales.
At this poitn the only thing we can do if we truly like acura is buy the older models and restore them.

My next car won't require premium gas. My RL pings on most premium gas in my area. I only found one station that doesn't make me ping. I'm convinced that they are all doping their gas.
I like the Pontiac G8-GT too. 6.0L V8, 50/50 weight distribution, Limited Slip Differential...nice looking too. ($30K new). I'm tired of needing 5,000 RPM to get power. I want low-end torque. I know the G8 is missing the luxury stuff but I'm okay with that.
Lastly, the guy above who wants to get a used TL-S, please read the thread regarding engine ping ->

(warning, it's 24 pages long)
My 06 RL is my first Acura and I love the car but it will likely be my last due to the engine ping. That's unacceptible to me in a modern car.

IDK either! I'm on the fence since I own an 06 RL. I will keep it until 2010 or so to see what's actually coming out of Acura for an RL replacement. After that, everything is fair game. From GM to European to other Lux brands. After owning BMW 7-series for 5+ years I left the brand after the "fugly" 2003+ 745/760 for something with lines more to my liking that also offered better bang for the buck, performance vs. price; namely the RL.
I wish there was a clear answer (in my mind), but there isn't. For others that are ready to replace their cars today or the next few months, I think their decision is clear. Steer away, clear of the next "I want to make my mark in history, whether good or bad" designer. It's all about how he sold it to the top brass and nothing more... Apparently, they must have had pictures of one of them in compromising positions or something...
Good luck everyone!!

most cars I've gotten for myself have been coupes and acura isn't offering one anymore, so no more for me... plus the fact that I find the exterior rehaul terrible

Too soon tell. I didn't think I would like the new RL, but having seen the real thing, it doesn't look too bad. However, since I am already in an '06 the changes aren't enough for me to buy one. As for the TL, it certainly looks uglier to me then the RL looked, but I will again wait until I see the real thing. I can't imagine that it will improve that much in the flesh, but I'm in no hurry. If I were deciding today, I think I would have to shop elsewhere for my next car.

All About Trance
My 3G TL will be paid off in less than 2 years so I won't be in the market for a new car any time soon so I had voted "Don't know yet". And I usually keep my car for a very long time any way. If I had the cash flow, I'd get a Lexus, but the only Lexus that is offered a manual right now is the IS250. So . . . pass.
