Will your next car be an Acura?
I was just in 4G TL land and saw the new pictures. I think the TL looks like ass. So does the front of the RL.
So my question is as noted above, with the subtitle.....if not an Acura, then what will you buy?
My answer is that if Acura screws up the 3G RL, then I'm either holding on to my 2G RL until the wheels come off (we have a 2G RL member with 200k miles and others with well over 100k miles already, so this is indeed possible), or I'm buying a Cadillac CTS.
I am so disappointed in the new Acura design studio that I just don't know what to say anymore. And I'm a VERY good customer, having bought three Acuras in the last 7 years, and an Acura fan.
Do these people WANT to kill their business? First, the piss-poor marketing, now the Power Plenum (Phlegm) grille and the butt on the new TL.
EDIT: I know this is probably a repost, but with the context of the new TSX, TL, and RL, there may be different answers.
EDIT 2: Added poll.

My next car is an E46 M3 Everything else can suck on a nut...I think almost all upcoming new cars look like complete horseshit (except the anything from the Audi line-up, which is wierd because the entire VW line looks retarted...)

I would definitely buy another Acura. The styling is slowly growing on me, and I think the polarizing look is just what the brand needs. Over the years, the design language will be refined; but I'm a fan of it currently. We're finally starting to see some cohesion between models, and critics can no longer say they're styled too conservatively.
The overall package of an Acura is just too compelling to ignore. The SH-AWD is a huge selling point, and the level of tech is simply unmatched. Top it off with bullet-proof reliability (when compared to other luxury makes) and the fact that no other Japanese luxury car really does anything for me, and Acura is a winner.
However, I will likely hold out until I get a company car in a couple years (no sense spending money on a new car).

Good points, SPUDMTN, Acura has the best bang for the luxury buck. I can afford the "bling" brands but purposely choose to invest the money saved by not spending on those.
The problem with the design is that everyone is piling on, me included. There is a consensus that the design has missed the mark, at least here in the enthusiast community.
If this design is what flies on Main Street, then Acura will have no trouble selling.....and there will be new enthusiasts, while old ones like me are at risk for going elsewhere. I can't see Acura releasing these designs without copious input from focus groups made up of non-enthusiasts.
BTW, I voted "don't know yet".

if acura keeps up with this design hell no....i'm sticking with my car for another 2-3 years she'll have 75-100k on her by then and a few more mods...
at that time i may end up switching but like i said if acura keeps up like this i won't consider them but probably upgrade to a newer IS.

I came here in 2001 because of the CL 3.2 Type-S ... There's nothing in the lineup I want and nothing coming down the pike that I can see that would change my mind.
Acura has completely lost their way and so no, I won't be buying one.

IDK yet.
I'm looking right now, but may keep my TL if I can't find something more compelling (my bitching is in some 335i threads here), and if I do, I'll have a couple/several years to decide.
Maybe by that time the kids will have dropped out of school and I can use their college funds for the new NSX...

I'm Down Right Fierce!
Acura has been raising their prices slowly over the years; take the new TSX for example - pretty damn expensive with Navi option, and it still has only 200ish HP? (For a few thousand more and you can get the 08 TL-S).
If I had to guess, the new TL-S will probably hit the $40k mark. At that price point, I feel like theres no more "bang for your buck."
I'm happy that Acura is attempting to move upscale... they just need to hire a new design team.

Most likely not, the 06 TL is the last Acura I will buy unless I find a good deal on a late model NSX as well . Next car is most likely a Lexus since I am thinking of getting rid of the GS and getting into an 06 GS430 pictured below.
That being said my main reason to jump ship is due to Acura styling and built quality. Apart from the transmission issue most 2G owners who own a 3G now can affirm that 2G built quality is eons better than 3G TL.

My RL will mostly likely be my first and last Acura for the immediate future. None of the future cars in the Acura lineup (RL, TL, TSX, etc...) appeal to me aesthetically or emotionally. Mechanically, maybe, as I do like the SH-AWD system, but looks are important to me too. And from what I've seen, they all look hideous (IMO).
I'm currently also driving an Audi and will most likely continue to stay with them for my next car, which I'm hoping will either be an B8 S5 or S4 Avant. Completely different, I know, but it's what i'd like.

Does anyone know if Acura intends to release a new model in the next two years? I'd like to see a smaller car. They have been making larger and larger cars. With the nixing of the CL, RSX and the introduction of the 2G TSX they have been systematicly cropping the compact end of their lineup. Their brand is starting to resemble Cadillac sans roadster.

No. The only thing that I like at the current is the MDX that I owned for a while, before we got rid of it. Nothing else appeals to me. A CPO Infiniti/Audi/Bimmer would likely be next.
I've been itching for a C6 and E46 M3 convertible lately...

GM has totally earned my respect.
Top cars on the list are the G8 GT or GXP and the Cadillac CTS
Acura? Still thinking about an NSX but it's just soooo impratical at this time in my life.

No effin' way, unless they scrap those nasty grilles within the next couple of years. Right now I'm more likely to buy a Lexus, Infiniti, or even a Hyundai (if they add AWD to the Genesis) or Buick (if the Invicta concept makes it to production). Never thought I would consider those last 2, but I also never thought Acura could butcher their styling so badly that I would ignore all of the other cool stuff in their cars. If the thing makes me wanna puke every time a look at it, guess what? I ain't gonna buy it, plain & simple.

i am considering either getting an infinity ex35, acura RDX, or an BMW X6.. i am not in the market right now, but if i was those would be the contenders. not really feeling the new acuras. i hated the front of the MDX when it came out and it seems acura is going that route.

I went with the IDK option. I probably won't need a new car for another 4-7 years so who knows what they will have for me then.
If I needed a new car in the next year, they'd have a chance on selling me a TSX but no garauntee.

I would have bought an '04 TL had I earned a little bit more, but my Accord had a lot of the same features for about $6K less.
I'm now happy I bought the Accord with gas prices the way they are.
I doubt my next car will be an Acura because as the OP said, the new designs look like my left nutsack.

ekkkk, man 53% says no. And im one of them. I think the new tsx and rl look really good in person, however judging by pics for the 4g TL, ugh. I really loved acura, but i cant really see myself in a tsx, and i would want some more power in the rl.

I'm really not sure. I don't want an SUV, so the RDX and MDX are out. The RL is too big and too expensive when new, and the 09 isn't working for me. The 4G TL pics that just debuted look disgusting, which is extremely disappointing because I was hoping it would be awesome so I could put it on the short list, but no. That leaves the TSX, which I like, but I really wanted something with AWD and maybe a little bit more power.
The IS250 AWD is a contender I suppose, but it's damn small so I don't know if it'll work. I like the Accord Coupe, but think I should get a sedan for practicality reasons. I love the new A4, but Audi reliability....scary. Altima....meh. Maxima is just downright ugly. Ugh, there is just nothing on the market that interests me right now. I want decent mpg and reliability. TSX seems to be the only thing that fits the description right now. Wish I could afford a GS.
