I agree with the truth and concept to this statement. However, real application is another thing.

Without a doubt, RWD is a better platform to begin with when the plans are to produce significant power. But if the desire is there, it may not be practical to trade vehicles and then begin modifying. Also, there may be qualities to the current vehicle which may not be found or liked on the alternatives (cough, interior design on the mentioned alternative to the CL).

I hear this argument often and it is a valid one. But only when really applied. If someone drives the vehicle under 7/10 of its ability the benefits of RWD is not fully realized. When properly set up you can get pretty good capability from FWD. However, there is a still a margin which cannot be made up for but if not utilized by the RWD vehicle it is irrelevant.

Launching a M3 off the line is easy in comparison to lauching the 350whp blown CLS. Given they both have the same street tires. Even a 6MT /w H/I can be tricky....

CLS only chance is catching up in the 1/4... (if you have a good driver in the M3) And or slicks in the CLS to meet the M3's launch, which now your talking a track only CLS.

I forgot the 6MT gears are a lot closer together than the 5AT in the CLS. The 100lbs less in weight does add up to another 20hp or so to the BMW too though. Also depends on what trim the CLS is in, mine tips near 3500 in stock form. That new M3 put on a lot of weight! lol. I forgot ho heavy they are. Really the weight is a moot point, especially if it's a CLS /wo navi/spoiler.

And that is a prime area which, no matter the effort, cannot be made up for. But that only shows its inability when launching full out. Getting off the line quickly and at a decent clip can be done in both cars. It just takes more concentration in the FWD vehicle.

not if its stock! I actually ran a 330ci (not sure if stick, my guess is auto) and beat him. It was a short race because he tried to get in front of me before a merge. being the dick that I am I gunned it after I heard him gun it and fortunately I was still in first. I pulled ahead enough that he then let me in. probably just a quick 5-40 pull.

anyway, why do people keep saying that a blown CLS auto would give a stock b5 S4 a run? A blown CLS should crush a stock turbo S4. We have plenty of h/i/e auto CLSs running 14.1-14.4 @96-99mph, which is what the stock S4 autos run. I think a chipped S4 and a blown auto CLS with hbp would be a decent run although under a capable driver the S4 should win.

Oh and that clown talking smack sounds like a 12 year old because he knows dick and the fact that his user name is "urladyswidme" says quite a bit. Everyone is entitled to an opinion but some people just need to stfu!

I think a stock Auto S4 would be an easy kill for a blown CLS.

Now a stock M/T S4 would be a good race for the blown CLS.

A chipped M/T S4 would be to much for a Blown CLS though.

This being the previous gen S4, obviously.
