Angry Why to not let your girl drive your car...

Luckily it was not my Type-S since she just drove it all day yesterday but here's the story. We're getting ready to sell my wife's 04 Honda Civic privately so I can upgrade her to an MDX so I spent 4 hours yesterday detailing, buffing, cleaning & touching up the Civic. It's back to a gleaming bright white, interior like new...she calls me just a few minutes ago & tells me she backed into our neighbors car "cause it was on the street & not their driveway!" WTF! I'm not so mad at the damage, I'm mad that she didn't look! Told her it coulda been a kid or a pedestrian. Well see how bad the damage is tonight but sure as hell letting her know I don't think she's quite ready for an MDX.

my g/f is totally retarded when reversing without the sensors. With the sensors its all good but without them she cant reverse to save her life. I always laugh cause the sensors dont beep until she is about 3/4 of the way into the stall, but when she reverses into a stall without the sensors she has to correct herself like 3 or 4 times.

I said "how could you back up a 1.5 ton almost $10,000 machine without looking"...I just dont get it. This is of course after she already broke off her mirror on the side of the garage on a day when mine wasnt even in there. This is a 2.5 car garage that fit my brother in laws Trailblazer comfortably...with a guy backing into the garage of course.

Don't care about sex I guess. People do dumb shit all the time. My advice would be to tell her everything is going to be alright and that your plans are still on. It's a car man...... Treat your wife right.

I refer to my wife as "girl" in a subject heading because the post pertained to women in general not just my wife or a wife.

I see the connection you're trying to make but the good thing is once we're behind closed doors things are very good & issues throughout the day stay out. An accident like rear ending or something would have had me worried, thats what insurance is for. However, not looking when backing up is just blonde & unsafe.

All jokes aside, the OP is being a tool.

Why start a thread like this and call you wife out as "blonde and unsafe".

Driving ability isn't dependent upon gender. There are both idiots and excellent drivers from either sex.

My wife is an excellent driver. The Civic that she drives looks brand new because I try to keep it that way.

Granted, the car was recently in a front end accident that made the paint new, but otherwise, the car looks great!

x2. there are all kinds of drivers. once my girlfriend gets this stick down im sure she will be 10x the driver i am.

cant say the same about my best friend. he is a disaster on wheels.

so what if everytime i get cut-off/run off the road/someone comes into my lane/slams on their brakes/ is talking on a cellphone/ swerving in and out of lanes it happens to be a woman.

also, it doesnt seem like she is the type to respect a car in the manner you do. there is nothing wrong with that but maybe a 50k car isnt the right idea.

because you are going to get pissed everytime she trashes it and she wont understand.

So does mine. She used to but now it's too stressful for her. I guess I won lol. I actually don't mind. She drives a little aggressive and I feel more comfortable to have her in a car that handles and stops than her Murano. But then again the Murano handles curbs much better lol.

Back in the day I had a little petite cute blonde girlfriend that I actually let drive the GN. She could man handle that car going sideways while stomping on older guys' mid life crisis Vettes and Porsches. I've never had a girl that would let it go sideways and stay in the throttle and control it. Of course I didn't let her do it if I wasn't in the car to grab the wheel if necessary but it was actually a turn-on. It was priceless the look we would get after beating a big block muscle car and they noticed it was a little blonde girl driving.

curb rash is my biggest fear when she drives my car. all in all she's a really good driver, just has those blonde moments. The damage isn't too bad but it does look like the entire bumper will have to get repainted.

It's a stereotype, and although true, I would bet that if you picked 100 random males driver and 100 random female drivers, the male drivers would outperform the female drivers over some kind of driving test. I'm not saying every male driver will be better but more than 50%, this is just theoretical of course.

And I remember reading an article, that there are more accidents involved with females than males. It was close though, something like 5x% female and 4x% male. I'll see if I can find that. Dunno if it still stands

Either way when I see mistakes on the road its more than likely a woman, although I have seen my fair share of mistakes from guys.

Whenever I see a asian female driving I

Got a good one for you guys.

I come home one day and I see my wifes car all messed up in the back. bumper, trunk, quarter panel, etc. I ask her wth happened? she replies idk. so while I am looking at the car I notice that the fence at our house is also all smashed up. hmmmm so I ask her did you back into the fence? at this point she is getting defensive about it. I get the bright idea to check the surveillance footage of the day and what do I find? wifeys car up to the rear doors through the fence, well it didn't go through the fence because the tree behind it prevented her from going through. She walkes in the room and catches my footage on the monitor and the fight began lol. My dad stops over later in the evening and I am telling him the story and how she is pissed and my dad gives me the best advice of the day. His advice goes as follows: Do not worry about how it happened because that will get you nowhere. Worry about making sure she doesn't do it again, If I were you I would make sure the car is pointing out every morning. Done!

Dan, sounds like your dad is a brilliant man!

That truly is good advice. I just think it's a shame that in this society we (men) are expected to just understand that girls do stupid things from time to time and deal with it. Double standards are the worst.

I love my girlfriend. Although her car has a handful of completely unexplained scratches and dings, I trust her with my car. She drives very cautiously with it and always parks it away from others. She even has picked up on my obsessive compulsive habits of shutting everything off and closing all the compartments before leaving it.

In her OWN car, she leaves the stereo blasting, the a/c on high, etc. every single time. I hate driving her car because whenever I turn it on I have the latest pop song blasting in my face.

Might wanna let her know that her battery will die earlier by leaving everything on

Doesn't mean she will do it, but doesnt hurt to tell her if you haven't already.

I want to clarify that is a good driver in general, I've seen her react in dangerous quicker situations and she does well...just the backing up, depth perception & blonde moments we gotta watch out for.
