If I could afford an STi right now you can be damned sure I'd have a black one with the silver alloys on sitting my garage right now.
Those care are MEAN and HOT!!!

WRXs are fucking awesome too, almost got one over a year ago before i got my CL, but as someone else said it being a brand new car my insurance would have been sky high. And with the redo on the headlights, WRXs are better then ever.

Yes the looks are subjective, but you cant beat what this car was designed for.

See, for me ... looking at Subaru's competition with the STI, I'd have to choose the STI. I could never buy another Mitsubishi. After owning 2 ('86 Galant, '92 Eclipse), I can say that both were a POS. Both cars had tons of transmission problems ('86 Galant had the tranny replaced twice, '92 Eclipse had it replaced twice and when I sold it the transmission was on its last leg) and started burning oil like crazy. Constantly had problems getting them to pass emissions inspection, and overall I was not pleased with either car. Of course, I say this buying a '03 TL-S with known transmission problems now hahaha ... but I'm much more pleased with my TL-S than I was with my Mitsubishis. Don't think I'll ever buy a Mitsubishi again... for this reason alone I'd goto Subaru. The '05 Legacy 2.5GT definitely looks hot imho ... with 250hp and AWD in a pretty light chassis, I might just have to give Subaru a try unless Acura can counter with a faster, AWD TSX

How ignorant can you be? The average age of an STi buyer is definitely over 25 years old. Most Rice boys can't afford the STi or the insurance. You think I'm a Ricer? I had a Viper GTS for fucks sake. Rally Cars had big rear spoilers and scoops before the term Rice Boy was even coined. Suddenly, the hobby of putting stickers, cheap bodykits, fart can exhausts, and air intakes on 120hp Civics becomes popular......the real deal like Evos and STi's (which were around for years overseas) get thrown into the mix when they arrive in the States.

Oh and the Evo is a fun car to drive, remember I did have one for a little while. The build quality is crap, Mitsubishi service is crap, the company as a whole is sinking like the Titanic, and you think the STi would make a bad everyday car.....just drive an Evo around for a little while. The STi interior is nicer, but whatever, neither car is luxury oriented.

At least Subarus look much better than Mitsubishis. Really, the new Legacy is very sporty and Japanese looking, if Subaru doesn't plan to change its style from the Japanese version. And the interior looks much more upscale. They really should provide HIDs and navi as options in the new Legacy.

Navi and other higher tech options are available on a few Subie models in Europe. They'll soon be here too.

i like them and always have, the first car poster i had on my wall was an sti ver-III back when i was in 7th grade. AND now, after seeing how fast my brothers friends 01 wrx is(11sec, now hoping for 10's) i love them that much more, SICKENING, SICKENING FAST. too bad i had to write my final and didnt get a ride in it but my brothers did. WITH ~650lbs extra in the wrx they pulled train lengths on a stage 2 srt4from a stop and roll. (srt4 was another friend of the friends.) my brothers were supposedly screaming, telling the driver to "slow down, oh jesus slow down"

performance aside, I'd rather pick up a date in my Acura than a Subaru if that's the only car I had

With the stock tires of the Evo and STi, they aren't all weather at all. They have summer tires which go nowhere in the snow. My friend can attest to that. They need all seasons for all weather performance - But I agree that AWD vs FWD or RWD with all else equal is much better for inclement weather

im sure up there you get alot more snow, but we took my brothers car out in like 6"+ this winter and it handled just as well as our expedition and explorer as long as you didnt get on it. but when full boost hit youre right, traction is horrible.

so you gotta put snow tires on it, so what. you have to do the same w/ a FWD or RWD car to have decent performance in snow. after that there is no comparison.

if your saying the STi doesn't go well in the rain right out of the box, i don't buy it.

i can tell you right now the wrx will launch just as hard in the rain as it will on dry pavement ...as i just witnessed a few minutes ago.

The WRX STI is a beast. a very underrated car.

As a daily driver i don't like the hood scoop too much either. But changing is possible. I've seen a lot of WRX's with custom modifications like that, or at least plans for it. You can remount the cooling systems to the front and fabricate air vents for it.

And in rally, its the car of choice for most of the top rally drivers in the country. Richard, seamus burke, tom lawless, they all use either an EVO or WRX in any given race. The platforms for both cars are endless.

Mustangs have their own applications also. Not everyone is going to like either body stylings all that much but thats what makes them different cars.

WRX and EVO's are great cars for rally or for daily drivings. AWD turbo ? year round party, cornering tarmac in the summer and dougnuts in the snow in the winter. sounds like fun to me.

I agree with Nicky, the STI is fuckin' ugly, hood scoop or no hood scoop, it's still ugly.
That goes for the EVO as well, ugly car.
They're fast, great.
I've driven in and sat in both and my cousin's Corolla has a better interior than either.
Just my humble opinion.
